I think they started with the C3 in '68. Not 100% certain, but a buddy had a '69 (or was it a '70? I forget now) and it definitely said "Stingray" on it.

I love a guy who reads the fine print in my descriptions. Β

I really appreciate having fine print to read; nothing bugs me more than a beautiful shot of something unusual with no description (for example a shiney Lister with no description of if it's a Jag, Maserati or Corvette powered version), or even worse, something really rare with nothing but a "don't steal my art" logo. No, for me, I find that the description is often as important as the image, it sets the stage, location, time period, and sometimes I actually learn something.
Thanks man, I really do appreciate it!

I find it cool that 8 months after your last comment you return and answer the question posed; that's tenacity.
I may fail on occasion, but I always want to identify the vehicles I post and, if possible, share something interesting regarding the car or some background on the capture of the image. Β Too many times I have looked upon a photograph in this site and there is no description. Β I am no expert on cars and I like to know what I'm looking at. Β A lot of the information I share is found by digging through event programs and searching the Web . . . and I've been know to rely on friends like you, Aya-Wavedancer , and focallength .Β

I suspect I may have missed the comment the first time around, I was too excited at the pic and the model; I suspect this because I also forgot to fave it!Β
I appreciate the effort that goes into "documenting" an image, I spend hours with the race programs after the events figuring out whose picture I snapped in action. There are always the favourites we recognize easily, like Jeff Gordon or Dale Earnhardt, but it's the more obscure or occasional drivers like JJ Cobb that require more work identifying.

Glad I could help. Here's a site that should make things a little easier. It's a site that has scans of car sales brochures going back the early 20th century.Β www.oldcarmanualproject.com/

Strangely enough, just as I hit enter on my other post about Penske 'Vettes, this showed up in the "More from SharkHarrington" boxes.

Beautiful. Β 1/18 scale right? Β I hope they got a deal; I caught the price in the corner and fell off the couch!

I won't get it until Father's Day, but I promise to take a couple of pics along side the other Penske model.
