Description
I ventured out to capture the rise of the "Super Moon" in the twilight hours of May the Fifth. As I anxiously paced outside the gates of the Mission Santa Clara Cemetery searching for its appearance, I studied the landscape and plotted my strategy. Will the moon appear quickly or make me wait another hour? So many trees, power poles, and obstructions to overcome. Composition would be a challenge. Locked outside the gates, my options were limited.

And then, I saw it, "There it is!" I called out. Scrambling down the path outside the rusted iron gates I glimpsed the orb rising over the tombstones and monuments. It was perfectly framed beneath the branches of a beautiful Aspen tree. Knowing I had only moments, I unfolded my tripod to it's lowest setting. Curses! It couldn't support my camera low enough to shoot below the tree. The Moon was rising quickly. I pushed the tripod to the side and reached for my camera bag; I shoved the bag up to the fence and cradled my camera upon the nylon. On my stomach, I aimed the lens through the iron bars and focused. Holding my breath, I gently squeezed the shutter . . . "Hello Mr. Lewis."
