Why is it, everyone I know, can get a Water Lilly picture and mine look like crap?? Maybe 'cause I am in the water, on a real lake, instead of ornamental ponds?
Good shot, Shark. Good to see you enjoy other types of "nature". LOL

Well, this was the best shot (my opinion, of course) of the lot. I shot the lillies, left to explore the gardens, then came back a second time. And as I look through my images, I'm hypercritical of the composition, focus, color, etc. Truthfully, this was the 26th frame I shot at this man-made pond.

I was taken by the framing of the reedlike plants and the rock wall. It's as though the lillies are on stage, and (I feel)the reflection is pretty killer. I am not into flower photography or landscapes as a general rule. But when I'm on vacation and the opportunity to shoot things out of my comfort zone beckons to me, I'm compelled to take the challenge.

I love your parting comment. Too bad there weren't any fashion models hanging around; we could have done something real special.

LOL at my parting shot.
Yeah, you got a good shot and it does look stage like. I noticed that last night.
I'm still trying to find my niche, with photos. I go to every car show, I can but they leave little leeway, for creativity, between rushing shots, for an unobstructed view and not being able to get a good angle, because they park them on top of each other. I also kayak a lot, mainly on the lake I live on, so I have taken up shooting birds and things I find out there.
I was fairly good with film years ago, but I spent so much time with auto features in my earlier years with digitals, that I am having a hard time getting settings right. I give myself some tough situations to shoot from, too. Bright sunlight, flying birds, rocky kayak.
I'm having fun though, experimenting.
