Description "You see, Shere Khan, I am neither a man nor a wolf. I am more than those things. I am a GOD!"

A random little AU I thought of where Mowgli is of the same race as the Collector from the Owl House. The story would basically take place pre 1600s, before Philip/Belos and his brother Caleb entered the Boiling Isles, instead of the 1800s which was when Rudyard Kipling wrote the original Jungle Book. Since we don't know a whole lot about the Collector race AKA the Archivists, I'd like to theorize that most of them were wiped out in the Collector/Titan war and an infant Collector is sent away by his parents to safety in a similar manner to Superman's origin story. In fact, there's a Superman comic from years ago where it's loosely based on the Jungle Book.

The infant Collector lands on Earth and is found by Bagheera and is taken to the wolf pack who are weirded out by the fact that despite having the physical appearance of a man-cub, his hair is completely white and most of his skin is a golden yellow and half of his face is a light purple. They still love and care for him anyways and name him Mowgli. Growing up, he would discover that he has some magic abilities like flight and moving objects around with his mind, much to the amazement of the wolf pups of the pack. When Shere Khan returns to the pack's part of the jungle, the pack sends Mowgli away to a man-village to be safe, with Bagheera leading him there.

Along the way, Mowgli would develop new magical abilities such as summoning objects like fruit when he meets Baloo, and turning people to stone when he has encounters with Kaa and King Louie. The latter power startles him, leading him to believe that's he's not a man but a monster and runs away. When he cried the ground shook. Later, he meets a group of vultures who tell him that he might be some kind of god. This would lead to his encounter with Shere Khan as you see here. Baloo comes to rescue him but is attacked by Shere Khan. Enraged and scared for his friend's life, he causes a thunderstorm to happen. He hovers above the now frightened Shere Khan as you see here in the artwork and says that quote at the top of the description. He sends lightning down on a tree and it falls onto Shere Khan, engulfing him in flames.

With the tiger dead, the jungle returns to peace. Mowgli decides to stay in the jungle and promises to control his more destructive powers.
