Description well, in a way he does have wing guns!

figured i'd jump on the Siddeley fan art bandwagon too! and also practice my hand at some perspective which i think worked out better than anything ive drawn in that field, cuz i dident use a reference for this pic!

also i find Siddeley's yellow HD vision glasses cute somehow

Siddeley belongs to Pixar Inc

Do you think it would be a good idea to write a story about a gulfstream spy jet from the CIA pairing up with Finn McMissile and spying on a top secret meeting between a former Soviet scientist and North Korean nuclear scientists negotiating a deal to ship old Soviet nuclear warheads to North Korea through China? Of course this is Cars 2 tech so the CIA jet will have some interesting tools and weapons for spying at high altitudes.

Dragoon has an advantage over siddeley: hypersonic speed and is extremely agile, meaning he can turn around 180° at altitude.

Blue-Dragon-007 In reply to sharkplane77 [2012-09-10 18:11:59 +0000 UTC]

Does it involve hitting Proffessor Z's henchcars and Tony? Dragoon is a combination of the P-1112 AIGION, SR-71, A-10, CFA-44, F-22, SU-47, F-14 and BEECHCRAFT KING AIR 350.

Dragoon: *fires an LASM (Long-range Anti-Ship Missile at Tony Tri-hull* Try escaping that in one piece!

Blue-Dragon-007 [2011-11-06 04:25:29 +0000 UTC]

He should watch out for a dragon plane with a GAU-8 AVENGER, EMLs, ADMMs, NIMBUS Cruise missiles, SAAMs, QAAMs, XMA-6s and two P&W J58s with clutches to engage or disengage the propellors.

Yes, I mean DRAGOON the dragon plane. Siddeley and Dragoon might get along quite well.

I figured you of anyone would be very excited for Siddeley being in Cars 2! Seriously, when I saw this character I'm like "Oh the living airplane community is going to LOVE this "

Only bad thing is that he didn't get nearly enough screen time. Cars 3!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sharkplane77 In reply to Experiment720 [2011-07-03 20:47:20 +0000 UTC]

oh yes! in fact siddeley was one of the reasons i saw Cars 2 in theaters right on opening day! so far the living airplane community is really giving Siddeley the screen time he deserved!

but yeah, i swear he only had like 3 sentences in the whole movie who knows though, Planes comes out in 2013, perhaps he'll make a cameo in that movie!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Experiment720 In reply to sharkplane77 [2011-07-04 20:22:07 +0000 UTC]

Oh man, I have concerns. It's a direct to DVD, and it's being produced by DisneyToon. Two strikes against it as DisneyToon has produced a lot of utter crap in their day. Even more disappointed that it's not going to see theatres though. The problem is that with direct to DVD, production quality and storyline tend to suffer, as direct to DVD movies generally are "for the kids". A theatrical release would have to compete with other big movies and thus would receive greater attention to detail.

I'm glad a planes movie is coming out. But I'm expecting typical Disney cheesiness and lack of quality for this one. What a shame that such a great idea is being relegated to DisneyToon.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sharkplane77 In reply to Experiment720 [2011-07-05 04:24:50 +0000 UTC]

i hope it wont be as bad as DisneyToon's reputation! to be honest ive never seen any of Disney's direct to DVD movies, so i have no idea what they are like but what your saying makes sense, they're probally more childish cuz of the lack of competition

they need to have the living airplane community on DA direct planes!

Samareck [2011-07-01 06:04:06 +0000 UTC]

It felt really amazing to see planes in Cars 2 after seeing your art^^

sharkplane77 In reply to Samareck [2011-07-01 19:58:04 +0000 UTC]

same here! he totally needed more screen time

yeah! though i totally think Pixar was keeping an eye on the Cars fandom here on DA as they were developing Cars 2 cuz i spotted a ton of themes that existed in the Cars Fansom here that were in the movie including planes though i think the living airplane community is probably being spied on by Disney right now as they're developing Planes

Perfectly drawn. One of your best, I think. The wings are perfectly aligned. From drawing whales and sharks I personally know how difficult it is to do that, but you had factor in the tile and the perspective as well. And you nailed it.

Whales, sharks, and dolphins...that's how I figured out how to draw planes. They both have the same exact body types, just planes have different tail arangements as well as engines. Other then that, they're very much the same. They even have the bottlenose dolphins have. But this is ramrod straight. The shading is very nice to. I hope to see more like this. I just have one complaint about Cars however; I do not view the windshield as being the eyes. To me, the headlights are the eyes. There was a commercial where they did that and I was like "YES! Finally they get it right!". Windshield=forehead.

You know, we outta tell Pixar to make a similar movie about aircraft, like the movie Cars. With the animation quality today it would turn out extremely well.

Are those yellow lenses like the Hud on a pilots helmet, or like vision enhancement or something? I'm not familiar with Siddeley, so I'm going to have to run to catch up with the Band Wagon.

Anyways, very good job Sharky. You continue to impress me. Just no more plane pr0n

sharkplane77 In reply to BladedMako [2011-07-01 00:45:53 +0000 UTC]

thanks yes ive been on a quest to perfect my art for the past few months this pic was a rarity though cuz everything just seemed to work perfectly right off the bat i dident have to sketch very much cuz i got the perspective down right away and the ground coloring looked good right away. that almost never happens with any of my pics! but yeah, yellow makes detail more clear thats why pilots, race car drivers, skeet shooters, whatever wear those yellow glasses

a car with the headlights as eyed makes a brief appearance in Cars 2

actually Disney is making a direct to DVD Cars spinoff called Planes heres the trailer [link] its animated just like Pixar, but it wont be out until 2013

Still not as bad as waiting for Portal 2, though. That was torture.

BladedMako In reply to sharkplane77 [2011-07-07 22:54:16 +0000 UTC]

Awww, screw the regs. I hate them. I never listen to the stupid chatter in flight sim. Waddya mean I can't take off? There's nothing THERE! And the sky is big enough for me not to hit anything.

They won't find out if I'm flying that low, because I'll be flying under thier radar

BladedMako In reply to sharkplane77 [2011-07-08 16:25:30 +0000 UTC]

They just yell at you in an unconvincing monotone. When I follow the rules I end up having to listen to about six other aircraft go through, then I get to. AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THE DAMN HOLDING PATTERNS!!!

I have literally run out of fuel and crashed while waiting in a holding pattern.

What I don't get is head-on collisions in good visabillity. What, was the sky not big enough for you to avoid each other? Really, 30,000 feet of altitude, an whole planet of airspace and you HIT EACH OTHER?!!! One of you isn't very good at this.

sharkplane77 In reply to BladedMako [2011-07-09 04:09:49 +0000 UTC]

HAA! you should try flying into the control tower someday just to see if they still yell at you

yeah unless one of the planes was going at the speed of sound and smaller than a Cessna 152
