To anyone who hasn't watched this show,
You really need to.
To be perfectly honest, I thought this show was just going to be another take on the Sherlock series, another crime show, another blah thing. But it isn't. It's so rare that I find that something (much less a TV show) that has me on the edge of my seat every time I watch it. The first episode caught my interest (which is a difficult thing to do at times), the second episode had me begging for more, and the third episode stops my heart. Every time.
This is not a detective show. Well, it is. But it's about the balance of two diametric characters. It's about the relationship and the bond that grows between them. It's about each of their strengths and weaknesses. It's about the good man and the great man.
I'm a sucker for shows/films with heart and good character development. When I say this at the very top of my list of favorite things, I mean it.
Please. Take the four and half hours it takes and watch this show.

You know, when I first sat down to watch this series, my first thought was "do any Brits NOT have odd facial structures?"
my second was "holy crap, this show is BRILLIANT."
And my final one consisted of incoherent muffled shrieking while I rolled around on the couch. Sooo yes I can see where you're coming from about this show. I LOVE how you captured them. It's rare to find a person capable of putting details down on paper so accurately.

I like your takes on these two, especially because Benedict is just so different looking from other people.
I haven't tried drawing him yet, but it seems like a challenge.
And I'm so with you on everything you said in your artist's comments.
I'd heard about Sherlock a lot from the internet but I was like, "Meh, crime drama TV show trying to modernize Sherlock Holmes...not really interested."
Of course, it just kept popping up, so I finally gave in and watched "A Study in Pink." Been hooked ever since.
Can't wait for the new episodes coming in 2012!

Yeah. He's sort of funny that way. He was interesting to draw, to say the least. I imagined myself sitting there for hours trying to get his cheekbones correct but he's sort of easy to put together. Everything is just there. While Martin Freeman has an odd combination of having a well structured face and an extremely soft and elastic face. Both were an interesting challenge to draw.
Oh gosh. I'm curled up at my computer waiting with my English candy for the episodes.

I'm a huge Sherlock Holmes fan! I read most of the canon stories and watched most movies, but watching this series, I must say it is a breath of fresh air! I was able to watch a handful of episodes during the summer but stopped right when my Netflix sub ended

Same here! I love how much it sticks to the canon stories but it still feels fresh. I'm still on the edge of seat when I watch it. It's just perfect.
