Sweet.it does look like a drow ranger, like Drizzt, but it looks too intricate to have been made by surface humans. Perhaps some of his surface elf freinds made it for him? I wonder, what kind of armor did the Drow raiders wear? The heavy foot soldiers would certainly wear adamantine plate, but the sneaky and subtle drow raiders were what made the race so terrifying. I think they would have used adamantine chainmail, and perhaps Rothe leather over it, or maybe even black spider silk (if males would even be allowed to touch something made by the holy arachnids), whatever would be as quiet as possible. Ooh! I know! This could be armor made in the intricate and beautiful drow style, but made so that it would not degrade on the surface world, so perhaps steel or mithril in place of adamantine.

Eh....it's a little like Drizzt, but I would say it's pretty unique looking overall.

You know, every Drow has white hair, not just Drizzt. Don't know why everyone keeps telling it looks like him...

Well, while that is mostly true (some are silver in color), I meant overall. The armor structure combined with the physical build of the person (I am assuming you) underneath.
The white hair actually detracts from the look of Drizzt. I'm not sure why, perhaps it's the shade of white. Anyway, that's what I meant.Β

As far as I read books from Salavtore and others and read the adapted Comics the most of male Drow look nearly the same in the build of their bodies, because they are trained and have been hitted several times for not being strong enough as a child. A typical fast but muscular build is normal and also Drizzt' kind of armor was not at all like this black deadly armor once he got out of his hated family.
That's why I meant why automatically Drizzt is the first guess of everyone since noone is seeing something specific of the artist and even after he (it's not me) mentioned it above.
It's not meant as any sort of insult, but I really don't understand.

I can see your predicament. Well, most people when first seeing the armor and build, don't take their time to distinguish between the actual being and the artists work.Β
It's a first glance thought, the reminder of what they are seeing. Even my dad, a well educated man that always distinguishes between drow easily, first saw Drizzt. If there were many well pronounced Drow in literature than people would see other beings besides Drizzt. It's all psychological really.

There are a lot more pronounced Drow in literature! I recommend to you the war of the spiderqueen. Here we learn about Gromph Baenre, Pharaun Myzzrim, Quenthel Baenre, Triel Baenre and the famous warrior Ryld who is a master of Melee-Maghtere. His armor looks much more like this, even so he has short hair. There are a lot of Drow out there who are excellent and more stunning than Drizzt (I personally found him really annoying after a short time). Also it could be Drizzt' father, who also was a master warrior and looked a lot like him.
I also think it's psychological. But I think it's sad after the artist specially said he don't want to here comparisons to Drizzt anymore.

I'll have to read that! I guess I just haven't been exposed to that many Drow I suppose.
And you do have many good points, especially about Drizzt's father.Β
I understand.

This totally reminded me of a funny thing that my brother did to my sister! She was watching the Lord of the Rings for the first time, and he slipped out just before Weathertop. When he came back, he was wearing his long black cloak and holding his sword the same way as the Nazgul. My sister turned around and panicked!

That's amazing. I'm in Dagorhir (Which is a bit like LARP, except less story telling and more beating each other) and my friend who is a Drow wanted to know if you could make a set of armor like this for him. If so, what would the price range be?

I think it looks awesome and my 1st thought was not of Drizzt. Then again I have not read any of those books written by Salvatore simply because I cannot stand the hype. I've always been a fan of "Drow" or Dark Elves for a long time in an admiration sort of way. lol I'm strange but I would have liked if the hood been pulled back a bit so I could have seen the whole face. It's still an excellent picture. Besides, even if I had read the books, you're armor does not remind me of that which I have seen in other artists artwork in regards to Drizzt.

To be honest...I have a feeling I'll eventually break down and read the books. The hypes been going down on them and to be quite honest there are very few books out there I might ACTUALLY enjoy, might as well see if this might be one of them...eventually.
