Ancient humans back then would have died as easily, if not easier, to those things as modern humans today (depending on if you're talking about anyone from a survivalist to someone with a crippling genetic disease that wouldn't have made it past infancy back then).
Ancient humans would have, on the other hand, had a much better chance of running away from them as there are very few humans used to endurance running (or even know how to run properly without cramping up) anymore.
