Description The Celtic goddess of death on the battlefield, with her symbol the raven. Done in a new look for me, very stylized, iconic almost, she is intended to be a worhty depiction of one of the Sidhe. Did I get it right? Whaddya think? (photoshop)

I think the washer at the fords/the BainSidhe was supposed to be the Morrigan; then again, my mom sold off my Celtic mythology book a few years ago *headdesk* Anyway, this depiction of her is beautiful; she looks both melancholy and fierce, as she should be. Not enough people seem to realize that ancient death deities were not evil....*refrains from ranting*....so it's really cool to see a non-battle-crazed Morrigan. And a redheaded one, too!

I really like this. It's very different from how I draw the Morrigan--you've given her sorrow and introspection! I always see her as a crazy blood thirsty battle-chick, but your version has really made me reconsider some of how I picture her.

Very beautiful. I love redheads!

aren't they so fun to draw? I think about 1/3 of my characters are redheads... Hee.

Yeah for the morrigan I combined her concept with the stories of the Washer at the Ford. The warriors see faery maidens washing bloody garments and weeping. they look closer and find that the clothes are theirs, and it is an omen- the maidens weep for them, as they go to their deaths. It happened to Chu Cullain.
I figured maybe she's more like she is in his story, kind of an angel of mercy, bringing death to wounded warriors and sending their souls on....

It's great. Aren't the unseelie supposed to be a little darker? Very pretty, though.

eh, it depends on who you read from. IN her case, I'm going off the descriptions of her as fair and beautiful and terrible, in a melancholy way..
