There's a lot of melancholy to be taken in from the dialogue. Both from Silver not knowing what transpired in the memories she's missing and for him in being asked so from her of all people.
Also I didn't know (or realize) that Tyler had been her apprentice in the past, too! That only adds to the sorrow at pay here.
...As a sidenote, it's funny how I mentioned both the hoodie under armor and the immortality thing in the other piece and this one addresses/answers both questions at once.

Yes, Silhouette saved Tyler from a Xalar attack on Earth and brought him to Aelevar where she helped train him to defend himself. He not only became her friend but also learned her tricks, which is why it came down to him to destroy her when she lost control and that whole mess with the slaughter happened.

You would think so, yeah. Aelevar's Immortals tend to embrace it with pride, but they're not quite as immortal as the other races suppose them to be.
