Shiratelle is a patient teacher, a necessary quality for anyone who works with Tyler. It's not that he doesn't want to learn, he typically loves learning, it's just that he's so easily distracted that he takes longer to learn than most of his cabin mates. Shira learned early on that Tyler became easily distracted by his failures. It took much longer to discover that he was capable of distracting himself with successes as well.
