Description

"Imagine waking up one morning to find a red spray-painted symbol on the front of your house, identifying you as a Christian. The Arabic letter for “nun,” meaning “Nazarenes,” was recently painted on homes of Christians in the city of Mosul, Iraq, by an organized terrorist group called IS (Islamic State). Then on July 17, Christians were given a choice: convert to Islam, pay a high tax, flee or die.

VOM workers reported that some recited the shahada (Muslim confession of faith) and converted to Islam. None paid the tax to stay, and most fled the city to save their families’ lives. The believers fled without their belongings, many on foot.

Through VOM’s field workers who have been actively bringing help to persecuted Christians in Iraq for more than 10 years, VOM immediately responded with aid to our displaced persecuted family. We are now providing them with Action Packs, with daily necessities like clothing and toiletries, and food. VOM is currently evaluating the needs of an additional 200 families and plans to bring help to them as soon as possible and is prepared to expand this help as the violence against Christians escalates." ~ Voice of the Martyrs

"Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Matthew 5:10-12

Sending out prayers to those facing persecution for bearing Christ's Name in Iraq this morning, as well as in the rest of the world. I'm also encouraging others to pray for these folks, and to consider supporting organizations working to bring relief during these difficult times. The Lord told us these things would come, and the truth is that it is going to get far, far worse on a global level. Though obviously more subtle than what we see in Iraq, there is increasing persecution of Christians within the borders of the United States, the government increasingly removing Christian symbols from public spaces (apparently freedom of religion does not mean we are free to be Christian or support Christian ideals in our cities and towns any longer---our forefathers would never have stood for this abuse and manipulation of the Constitution), and increasingly pressuring the Church to embrace non-biblical teachings (you'll marry who we tell you to marry is not far away), as well as to refrain from commenting on the state of this country and its government from the pulpit (we need to pray The Lord would raise up new Isaiahs, Jeremiahs, and Ezekiels to boldly proclaim the truth). Ours are little persecutions at this time, just little shifts in what was once the greatest Christian country, the greatest country period, in all the world; what we once were, we are no longer. Meanwhile Christians are being beheaded in the Middle East, murdered all over the world for nothing more than bearing the Name of Christ Jesus, for speaking God's Truth about the only Way to heaven, as well as to what---to love God and each other. So as I bid you good morning and God Bless, it is my prayer that God would fill you with His Spirit, fill you with a boldness to stand fast for His Name, even in the face of persecution, and that we would band together in prayer for all those who are losing their lives for His awesome Name; may we all find ourselves prepared, suited in the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-20), prepared to stand for God and His Word 🙏🙏🙏
