Description I kind of rushed on this one, normally I don't like void backgrounds but... they're so easy! Please forgive me.

Ready for the long-winded commentary? Here we go!

I was thinking to myself, I'm sorta a TG artist at this point, and yet... I have no real signature! I suppose my drow soul poison is unique enough but... I shouldn't limit myself to just creating drow versions of folks. Considering many of my favorite TG artists use unique characters or methods, I kinda felt like I was lacking. But perhaps I'm the bare minimum from which the others greatness can be derived :3. I can still try though, right? If only I could hold auditions for characters and methods...

The only way to illustrate my struggle, is to, well, illustrate it! This'll prolly be a one shot then revert to picking on Shay, or digging old characters from my sketchbooks and breathing new life into them. Then promptly picking on them.

Lets see. Ardent's original concept was that of a dungeon master fairy: he could transfer hapless travelers into a twisted fantasy world where he'd run them through an adventure. While using his RPG book, he could only run the game, not directly affect the party. Without his book, he's a fairy with the normal domains: life, space, and mind.

Sounds like world of darkness? Actually, he's based in the 12 element realm of Kaelriyu. Though there are parallels. For fairies, life magic gives transformation magic, space the ability to distort matter and space, and mind a grab-bag of affects that aren't telekinetic in nature. Some fairies can do more or even less.

Ardent went from a dungeon master fairy to a more generalized geek fairy. Using games and collectibles gives him new powers, one of which this comic shows. All of which revolve around using his own power to enchant. This comes in handy as he can give his toys for others to use.

Now, what is rune cast? It's a card game I made! However! Eye of judgment copied my core mechanic of gaining 2 summoning points per turn to place units on the board. I dropped the project in playtesting because of it. Rune Cast has more going for it than Eye of Judgment though... units can move based on varying speeds, the grid is much larger, and supports different terrain: tunneling, land, sea, and air. Really though, it is kind of a cross between a collectible card game and a miniatures game. You have a roster deck of 20 units, and a deck of 40 cards such as spells, items, and so on. I planned the card design so they'd have pop out tokens, that way you wouldn't have to buy overpriced miniatures. I could actually go on and on, but I don't want to go on for TOO long. If there's any interest, I'll make a unit card post and detail the game more.

Thanks for reading ^^

Oh, I'm glad you asked! "ClichΓ© Maid" and similar cards function as packmules on the battlefield. While they're usually not well suited for combat (often healers) they reduce the amount of summoning points it takes to give them items, and they can also give them to other units regardless of distance. If you're strategy relies heavily on item use (potions, bombs or alchemy) its usually worth while to have maid/butler cards.

well, I've been working on that card game for ages The only thing that's keeping me from finishing the project is that there are too many similar concepts out there... Eye of Judgment came out and is suspiciously close to my games design

well EoJ is an awesome looking game, so your game design must be cool too if it's that close to theirs! right? ^^

It is, in my opinion My favorite feature is that the Unit cards have punch out pogs that you use on a battlemap of 1-inch squares. That way you can play the game on easy to make yourself maps.

Keep in mind though the Ardent in the Descent into Nightmare pages isn't really Ardent, but something or someone taking his form
