Phantom sits, playing with the ring on his right hand. He knew it should be on the left, but he wasn't much of a traditionalist. He sighed heavily. It was Valentine's Day and he couldn't help but feel that familiar ache. So many things had changed. He was the king once more of the ghost zone, but not to conquer anything but to ensure her family's safety from the ghosts that sought vengeance.
Suddenly he felt her arms wrap around him.
"What's wrong, honey," she kissed his cheek.
His heart skipped at her voice, her touch. Only she made him both weak and strong.
"It's nothing, Dana," he lied.
She held him tighter. "You're lying. I can tell you know."
He laughed. She could. He had never been able to lie to her.
He reached up and touched her arm, as she nuzzled his neck.
"So much as has changed. So much for the better, and still I struggle to believe I deserve any of this. What I've done in my past..."
Dana smiled and brought his face to hers. "That was another time that no longer exists. You're not longer alone, Phantom. And you'll never be alone again, my king."
Leaning back, he kissed his Dana Phantom, and in a single breath he whispered. "My Phantom Queen."
