I was asked to draw a Zoroark by someone here on dA.....sure wish i could remember who...So yeah...I never do traditional painting/pencil work these days. This was done with prismacolours for zoroark and then watercolour, chalk and charcoal for the background, slightly edited after in photoshop.

So here it is.
Your perspective and concept are both AWESOME. I would seriously regret breaking this fox's illusion; it looks like those claws would tear me a new one if disturbed. The main flaws I can find lie in the lighting and small marking subtleties. The lighting, while not horrible, feels like it's all over the place - which it kind of is, but that is not the point. Part of what makes lightning so impressive is that it occurs against a dark sky. It feels like the background could be a little darker to make the energy streams and eyes that much brighter.
In regards to the markings, I can barely tell that Zoro's war paint is present. I know it's a bit hard to tell from that angle, but still feels like the red could be brighter.
Stars and reasons:

Originality: Had to take a point off because it reminded me of the B/W Zoroark card. The energy swirls have definitely been done before. The perspective has not (as far as I know).
Technique: MAJOR props on doing this all traditional. Still not sure if the background works for me. It would strike me as more impressive if Zoro was coming out of the darkness. More could have been done; still, very nice.
Impact: The pose and overall awesomeness made me want to comment as soon as I saw it. Sure, my own nitpicking daunted that a little, but not too much. Well done; this might be my highest Impact rating ever.
Overall: Could use some background work, but WOW. You deserve money.

Right, i'm gonna say that i think alot of the issues you pointed out are mostly because this is a traditional piece. The lighting is a bit messy, as you say, and it could be darker in places. If this had been digital, i would have probably done alot better with the background as its alot easier than having to do it all on paper. I get a bit lazy with watercolour paint and just throw it everywhere, same with chalk. Thats a problem with me though, ha ha. Also, regarding the war paint, i probably should have made that more evident around his eyes, but as his mouth isnt visible i couldnt include all of it. Ah well
Glad you still like it^^ I dont really like Zoroark as a pokemon, seeing him as just another lucario, but it was fun trying to make him badass XD

Ah, I see. That makes sense. 
I didn't really like Zoro until I tried her (since I was using the event girl) on Black. (Then again, I got lucky with nature and stats, too.) It still amuses me that I can make the text "Suicune used Flamethrower" show up without aaaannnyyy hacking.

Okay, that general comment thing? I lied.
This is a really cool picture, but what's special about it is that you make ZOROARK cool. I've always disliked its design, especially compared to its most similar cousin, Ninetails. But this picture makes its existence worth my while.
Also, and I know I already said this on another one of your pictures just now, but I really like the uniformity of the color palette. I think there's actually an art word for that... One of the principles of art, I believe...

I agree, i do not like Zoroark that much at all, it is far too popular for what it is actually...
But still, i'm glad you think it looks cool from my artwork XD I enjoy working with colour the most, get very picky about colour sets and palettes etc. Thanks so much!
