Description I felt the need to update this, and asked to come up with a concept sketch of a typical soldier in uniform, and one in common formalwear.

The Agino (Racial: Agino [ah-gee-no], singular: Aginite [ag-in-nite]), are the diplomatic backbone that makes up the Fellowship, composed exclusively of A'via (primarily Vaenia and Urrid) races and nations. Human chronologists believe the Agino (and their native Urrid counterparts, the Nal-Ur) have been a space-faring people since some time around the late 1800s to mid-1900s; predating the first Alaerin campaign by an estimated one-hundred years.

General characteristics:
Like Viana, the Agino are a micro-humanoid race, the height of an average adult being roughly four inches. Their relative proportions and physiques are startlingly similar to humans in almost every way. Though pale-skinned and a society that developed mostly in deep caves, Agino do have pale pigmentation, allowing for their alabaster skin color. Hair colors are usually very bright or pastel and range through just about every color.

Vaenia gestation is about 4-5 months, and generally reach adulthood around sixteen human calender years. The average lifespan of a vaenia is 60-70 years without advanced medical longevity involved.

Unlike other Vaenia, though, the Agino birth rate of twins, triplets, and so forth is higher than any other race or nationality. It's estimated that one out of every twenty-five to thirty Aginites was from a birth with multiples.

Anatomy:
There is very little difference between recorded Vaenia and human internal and external structures and organs. However, there are some points of interest.

Vaenia, and A'via races in general, are also surprisingly dense and resilient, able to withstand relative pressures and impacts that could seriously injure, or even prove lethal to a human. A simple example would be that a typical A'via could jump from the shoulder of a human, roughly nine or ten scale stories, and land without injury. This resilience allows a human to handle willing A'via with little worry of unintentional harm. However, there are strict laws and regiments in place to protect A'via from harm in the few places where A'via freely interact with humans, and with Alaerin on the very rare occasion.

In a similar curiosity to how Alaerin can function normally in the same environments as humans, despite having similar base physical properties, Vaenia have very normal blood pressures and heart rates, and produce abnormally high body temperatures for being so small, all roughly the same as the typical human.

Origin:
The Agino share their homeworld with the Nal-Ur, an Urridian nation. Named Agnis by the Agino, and Habra by the Nal-Ur, it was decided, once the two people reached a stable peace, to refer to their home as Agnis-Habra.

Agnis-Habra is a lesser medium sized planet, roughly twice the mass of Mars, and part of a yellow star system that is believed to be older than the Sol system. Aside from Agnis-Habra, which is so close to the innermost safe range of the 'Goldilocks zone' that it is estimated within 10,000 years, the atmosphere will not be able to protect against the more dangerous effects that comes with close proximity to a star. The only other planet in the system is a Super-Earth terrestrial planet, though orbits too close to the local sun to support life. There are also a number of asteroid belts between them and further out in the system. These have been one of the primary supplies of raw materials for their extra-solar endeavors.

As with the Alareen and their homeworld of Alarie, neither the Agino or the Nal-Ur have any evolutionary background or genetic similarities to any other native species on Agnis-Habra. Theories abound among scientists of all races, but each proposed answer is left with more questions than before.

[see document on the Nal-Ur and other A'via races for theories]

Transition to Civilization:
Their earliest history points to a very brief period on the surface of their home planet, but due to constant threat of extremely dangerous predators they moved their society to the underground network of caves. Early energy sources included a natural oil secreted by native gastropod like bioforms. Readily abundant, it was the base of all future chemical energy research and development. The Agino discovered electricity and the battery at roughly the same time, roughly 400 years before humans.

Much like humans, Agino equivalents of bronze and iron ages were riddled with religious confrontations that were the base of several wars. Monarchies, aristocraties, and oligarchies frequently rose and fell until many towns became autonomous with democratic central voices that forced most of these powers to collapse immediately.

From this point on, Agino City-States became abundant, and with democratic or bureaucratic systems with officials having short, and almost never successive, terms.

Contact with the Nal-Ur was peaceful, though some time after that led to several small skirmishes would come up, as either side would perpetrate some misconception. Eventually though, the two races found stable ground for a better peace, and from there they pursued the exploration of their planet, and eventually space.

Unlike humans and alareen that began extra-solar exploration with the development of faster-than-light travel, the Agino and Nal-Ur started with standard drives that would achieve speeds of 70-85% the speed of light. It was not until shortly before encountering the Il-Licen 80 years after their first steps out of their star system, that warp drives were developed, though for some length of time, their technology only exceeded x5 the speed of light. Today, most commercial, private, and small military ships are not designed for long distance travel due to the regular use of 'Jump Gates' as described below.

Psychology:
The Agino tend to maintain an ideal of well-intentioned companionship, and as such are generally very friendly and inviting. They are strongly opposed to violence and believe negotiations can solve any minor dispute. However, this does not apply to opponents that are unwilling to be reasoned with or deliberately make efforts to harm them.

When it comes to interacting with humans, or alaerin, an aginite will be courteous and polite, giving the larger race the benefit of the doubt, but will voice concerns, usually nervousness on first encounters or preferences when with one they are not familiar with.

Despite progressive views on working with humans and alaerin, integration efforts are slow, much like their Vianan cousins.

Sexuality and Love:
In Agino society, it is fairly common for an individual of either gender to seek more than a single intimate partner, largely from religious beliefs (see 'Spirituality and Religion' for more detail), and as such, polygamy is a social norm. Each partnership is made official, religiously and legally, in similar ceremonies as human weddings or legal joining. Concepts such as divorce are severely looked down upon and are extremely rare.

Though more than a single partner is so common, most acts of sexuality are done on a one-on-one personal basis. Children of a single couple are cared for by those parents, but each is socially capable of continuing existing partnerships, or pursuing others.

It is important to note, that there is a small population of mixed Vaenia and Urrid offspring. While not unheard of, it is not medically advised for a male Urrid and female Vaenia to pursue conception of children through 'natural' means. In such cases, a female Urrid, often related to the male parent, acts as a surrogate mother for the couple.

Habitat and Population:
Agnis-Habra is located about 55 light years spinward of Earth. Plains, mountain ranges, and deserts make up most of the surface environments, though marshes are present on all eleven major landmasses. The mostly dry climate is due to low precipitation levels (compared to Earth), as well as lower percentage of surface water. It's estimated that 32% of the planet's water is in underground aquifers found throughout the planet, evaporating through eroded cracks when the chambers are hot enough and into the atmosphere.

The Agino developed deep underground, building their cities near the many aquifers the planet has. Marine life and farms provide an abundance of food for their entire society, and views on resources allow for a near non-existent homeless population at any point in their census. Buildings, vehicles, and other constructs are often built extremely grandiose due to an unparalleled relative abundance of raw materials at their disposal.

Agino families tend to be large, but spread out. Due to family structures and the likelihood of children having brothers and sisters from different parents, it is difficult to accurately measure the 'nuclear family' of their society, but it is estimated, for each intimate adult in a partnership, there is 2.3 children, or 4.7 children for each intimate couple. According to a recent census, there are over 350 billion Agino, and are the most populace race known, dwarfing combined human (estimated 40 billion between UEC and NSL. Other 12 known factions unaccounted for), alareen (almost 10 billion between CSA, CCS, and Empire of Jinya), and Viana (roughly 180 billion) populations.

Language:
The agino language, referred to as aginair, is comprised of the spoken terms, and two written forms.

The spoken language is like any known language, with sentence structure akin to Germanic languages with descriptors coming before subjects and after actions.

There are two written forms of aginair, a casual form that is used for daily use, and a shrewdly formal text that is typical of legal, military, research, and non-fiction documents, as well as ceremonial texts such as vows, wills, and speeches. The former consists of some 34 characters used interchangeably per word, their alphabet, essentially. The second has an excess of 700 characters that form words in a similar fashion, but anything written in this is socially and (in most cases) legally held as the truth. It is a high-level offense to be found lying or otherwise fraudulent in anything written in this text. However, if something such as the understanding of physics or other sciences where outcomes may not be as concrete as previously believed, it is either tentatively written in the casual text, or modified within the consent of the law.

Spirituality and Religion:
Two major religions are followed to this day of advanced science and racial integration: Uniism and Thenism.

Uniism is the belief that all life is connected and must support each other to progress as a distantly connected single entity. Much like human beliefs, the concept of an individual 'soul' is central to this religion. Uniism is also the primary factor that polygamy is socially accepted. When an individual joins ceremoniously with another, according to Uniism, it displays how the inter-connection of all life not only supports itself through survival, but in empathetic ties through understanding and love. There are no recognized deities in Uniism, simply that life is abundant and harmony is its end goal.

Thenism follows the teachings of an ancient prophet, Gelithin Then. His claims of a shepherd race, that gathered the people that made their nation today, bare close resemblances to Vianan beliefs in a 'Creator race' and Urrid myths of 'giants that scattered to the winds.' Otherwise, the teaching of Thenism follow similar ideals to well-known human religions of today.

Art, Music and Literature:
In Agino culture, creativity is welcome in spades, but this is mainly due to a stunted concept of art. Early in their society, paintings and such were common place, but each era in their history began with an industrial revolution after two or three hundred years after a short renaissance-like phase at the end of the previous era. As such, visual art such as painting or sculpting is a very rare pursuit, less than 0.5% or so each generation at least practicing it.

However, music and dance are common place, and singing, usually in chorus, is very widely enjoyed. Dancers and performers are very popular and are perceived somewhat like celebrities and other entertainers in human pop culture. Theater and cinema are common enough, but is not as funded as it is among humans or alaerin.

Literature is easily the most popular form of expression and personal pass time, with surveys revealing roughly two out of every five Agino keeps a journal of sorts where they keep quotes, speeches, opinions, jokes, stories, poems and all manner of literary endeavors. Most households have small familial libraries for their enjoyment.

Society:
Though bureaucratic in many, many areas of social, economic, and militaristic fields, decisions are made surprisingly quickly, but many revisions are usually made frequently and just as quickly.

Their system of government takes on a form between direct and representative democratic styles of government but it is often used throughout most aspects of social life. For example, a family or co-habitating group of five in an apartment will choose one among themselves as something of a representative for the family/group, then, these representatives from adjacent rooms will often come together to discuss what is in the best interests of all parties. If something needs to be discussed for the intent of the entire floor of the apartment building, each section of the floor with adjacent rooms will choose a representative for such a case. This would continue in such a way that that each floor of the building would have someone speaking for them for discussions of the building itself, then each building along one side of a street, then the block that street is on, then adjacent city blocks, and so on like this in a formal, but not backed by government finality.

In the sense of official government positions, the idea is much the same, but more along the lines of each city having a council, each province of a country having it's own, which obviously leads to the whole of a country having one, and so on to highest council of the Agino Nation; The Halesstonnix. This council is in charge of the highest decisions of the Agino's government such as universal laws and actions of last resort. They also fill the role as tie breaker of the Nation's in the Fellowship, entrusted to be fair and in the best interest of the people of the Fellowship in general.

Crimes such as theft are very rare or even overlooked, since resources provide more than an abundance of necessary materials for anything a citizen could want. Surprisingly, crimes such as assault and battery are more common, not only from the massive total population, but due to frequent fanatical religious followers that encounter another that don't see eye-to-eye on even the simplest of differences in views. There have been many religious squabbles amongst themselves throughout their history. Major felonies such as murder, treason, and conspiracy are as harshly punished as in human society, except that these are seen as such terrible acts against the people, they're often held for the public to see justice done with their own eyes, but it is voluntary to attend, and children are not permitted either.

As far as social norms for clothing go, capes and half skirts are unisex, with seemingly no end to designs.

Military:
The Agino's formal military has existed since day one, though primarily to defend citizens from the relatively gigantic native beasts that threatened their way of life, but quickly enough, through their own ingenuity, they developed weapons and means to do just that.

Traditional military colors tend to be some shade of yellow, with beiges and golds somewhat commonplace.

In Present day, their military totes a highly effective arsenal that would prove a viable challenge to any Coalition force of equal merit.

Military make up:
Agino ranks are made up of many, many sub-duties that are tediously balanced by trainers when putting groups and units together. Aptitude tests are frequently taken every so many weeks throughout early training, and when a new soldier shows promise in a field, they are diverted to that appropriate field to see talent used to it's fullest.

This does not, however, prevent one from aspiring to a desired position or job, such as someone who excels in hand-to-hand combat but seeks to be part of a medical unit, merely that theses aptitudes are taken into account to meticulously balance military personnel in a preferable manner.

Equipment:
The Agino excel in electronic warfare when it comes to ship-to-ship battles. More likely to merely disable or incapacitate enemy ships than destroy them, allowing for capture of the vessel for possible information extraction.

Ground forces use diversion and divide and conquer tactics to great effect. The standard armament for a stationed soldier is a crossbow with an electric rail system, not unlike a more simple, significantly less powerful rail gun. The pack on the back serves not only as the power source, but has a highly advanced, extremely miniature condenser and transformer systems that can build a high-voltage charge that travels along a conductor cable tethered to the bolt after a successful hit. This charge is lethal to small and sometimes even medium sized animals on a human scale, and can be lethal or at least extremely deterrent to larger organisms when multiple soldiers open fire. To a human, a single charge from this weapon is about equivalent to a brief shock from a taser.

Vehicles ranging from lighter recon 'bikes' to heavier tanks and personnel carriers are present as they are in human armies. Agino holographic technology is presently superior to human or alareen technology, and can be projected over empty space to a degree. mobile, remote controlled devices are commonplace in a battlefield to draw attention and fire from real forces.

Probably the most outstanding endeavor of the Fellowship, in their roughly 500 years of expansion and advancement, is the successful creation of artificial Worm Hole generators. They are used commercially as the speediest form of transportation between the wide expanses of their colonies and major population centers, though this is slightly limited as this is only possible between two 'Jump Gates' that were built to create a worm between one another, and thus, many sister gates must be constructed and travel from one obscure settlement to another must be made between large 'Hubs' of jump gates that orbit major centers, much like having to change between public aero-space liners at ports. A 'Worm Hole Network' has been in the works since the debut of the generators, but so far, Jump gate travel is only safe between two gates design to establish a single worm hole between one another.

Unfortunately, The Fellowship has not yet revealed their worm hole generation technology with any Coalition industry or military, despite an overwhelming interest from all scientific communities. It is likely due to having only come into contact with them ten years ago, but it is with great anticipation that they will come to trust other nations with this spectacular piece of engineering.
