Description
We have come to the end of the pictures linked to Game 4 Life.
Gears of War was something I was excited about when I first read about it in Game Informer. When it was released in 2006, I was immediately hooked, as I blasted wretches away with my Gnasher. This was back in the Xbox 360 heyday, and much like Halo, I put a lot of time into Gears of War.
I remember a time when my account had gotten suspended for me doing stupid things during my angst-filled teenage days. An online friend I had decided to make a second account for me with a 1 month Xbox Live Card, back when they used to give them away all the time. Now, the stipulation for me to be able to use the account was I was not allowed to change any of the information. I just wanted to play again and I am pretty easygoing so I agreed.
I went from my usual name to UnicornQueennn, and I wore that name with pride. The thing my teenage self always found humorous is when I would join a game solo and not talk for most of the match. The entire time the guys on my team were hitting on me and praising my playing. Classic toxic gamer stuff from the early 2000s. At the end of the match, I would say something similar to “Good game guys” in the deep graveled voice I got from puberty and then I would laugh to myself as the lobby filled with gasps and “Oh shi-!”s. Then I would leave, knowing I had blown everyone’s mind. It was a petty way to get that much-needed dopamine but I was young. People change.
That was just in the days of the first game. The second game kept my attention just the same, and onward to the third. The third game is where I devoted most of my time. Xbox 360 was not the healthiest of systems, especially in my pet-filled home growing up. So at one point, my Xbox 360 got to the point where it would not read most games, just Gears of War 3 and another game. Then eventually it got to a point where I was afraid to turn it off. So if I wanted to play something, it had to be Gears of War 3, and I was perfectly fine with that. I put plenty of hours into Team Deathmatch and Horde mode.
While I did enjoy Gears of War Judgement’s campaign, the versus mode however was not the best, luckily there was the remaster, Gears of War Ultimate Edition, of the original game. It brought all the old nostalgia back and played great.
The new era had me playing a large amount as well but nowhere near as much as I used to. It could be because I do not have to same group of gaming pals anymore, or it could just be that I do not game like I used to. Guess that comes with age. Seeing the next generation take over from Delta Squad in Gears of War 4 hammers that home. I loved the large amount of versatility that was added to Gears 5. The classes in the co-op modes and the vast array of character skins bring the franchise that spans almost two decades together.
Gears Pop! was fun while it lasted, having been shut down (as if writing), but I never put a lot of time into it because I have never been a huge mobile gaming person. Thinking like that was probably why it got shut down, honestly, because it was fun.
Gears of War is one of my franchises. One of my dream tattoos is to get a play on Clay Carmine’s brotherly memorial tattoo I designed a while ago. Maybe one day.
Anyway, now that I’ve rambled, here we have Delta Squad ready to take down the Locust horde. Even the logo was not spared in this Teddified world. Hope you enjoy.
