...I can still see you through closed eyelids, feel you in my mind, when the northwind is tearing at the shutters, trying to find a void to get into the room and blow my warm blankets away, to expose my cold, white cover, to blow that away too, so my long forgotten self lies bare in the darkness for your memory to disassemble.
I remember when I wanted you so bad to see those parts of me and hated it so much when you just caught as much as a glimpse them.
So I watch you standing there in the flames, not quite fading but still moving away from my grasp everytime I reach out for you. You were like a fire yourself, fierce and searing.
I used to wonder how it was that you never burned up with the flames of your own thunderous nature.
They left unseen scars within everybody else. I used to think they would diminish.
I wonder if dying hurt, if you expected it, and over and over again just why you did this, how much you really knew for as rash as you may seem, you are no fool and you knew I knew that.
I feel like a fool when I think of you (again, too often-) and imagine how you would have liked that, finding your grave in a burning church, I almost laugh at the irony of it. But I never laugh, and you'll never breathe anymore and it will always just be the wind ghosting over my skin, whispering unspoken secrets shared only between the two of us.

Um...yeeah. Near's monologue just wrote itself. Really. It was scary.

So yeah, 'bout the picture...

..at least he looks kind of grumpy o.O (well, I suppose I would, too, if I got killed by some naked chick in a truck...)

Where did this come from?
It's strange, but a long time ago I actually had this dream in which Near dreamed of Mello standing in the burning ruins of this church... I've been wanting to paint something like it since then.

Actually, I have holidays now and noticed that I have my tablet for exactly one year now and never finished anything except maybe this [link] ... but that doesn't count.
So I thought I must finish one or two pictures this holiday and started this.
Well, epic fail I'd say.
But it was my first real picture with the tablet (though the second one isn't better) so be nice and drop some constructive criticism
