The Anansi is an intelligent, elusive megafaunal hippopotamus analogue from the planet Dante which uses its elongated crab-like claws to pluck and prune the vegetation upon which it feeds. Anansis appear solitary but sing over long distances in the manner of whales to communicate with unseen, distant companions.
