opaline arcana, one of the most magically advanced unicorns in equestria. she had a promising future, but it all changed when she found out she was pregnant with her first child- a girl. when her baby was born, she named her cozy glow. opaline was too busy studying magic to really care for her daughter, resulting in opaline unintentionally neglecting her. that's why cozy started to lash out, and eventually was turned to stone.

despite her powerful magic, opaline was not strong enough to free her beloved daughter. she spent many moons trying to find magic strong enough to break the curse, but it was no luck. without alicorn magic, she could do nothing. that got her thinking,, who had turned cozy into stone ? when she found out twilight and her friends had done it, she couldnt help but let her blood boil. the princess of friendship ; loved by all, praised for 'saving equestria' and being crowned all-ruling princess. it was disgusting. how could she turn a perfectly innocent filly to stone ? she knew her daughter was troublesome, but she didn't think she would ever be such a huge threat. not only that, but everyone else seemed to be on twilight's side.

eager to free her daughter, opaline resorted to dark, evil magic to get what she wanted. in the process, she became an alicorn, finally strong enough to break her daughter from her stony prison ! except, she wasn't. twilight and her friends had used the magic of friendship, and all opaline had was ,,, magic. now, bitter and cold with her heart black with evil, opaline decided to do the worst to twilight, just so they were even. opaline would destroy friendship and rule equestria herself, once and for all.

hope you guys like the silly little opaline backstory i came up with !! theres some missing details here and there but besides that i think it could be,,, plausible ? 😅

anyway, heres my hc design of opaline :] dont ask me what the character designers were thinking when they came up with her og color scheme, so i changed it a bit. other than that, she's largely the same as canon.

also opaline adopts misty later on to fill the void of her missing daughter
