Description
“Cavendish, Cavendish! What the hell is going on with you?! Get back here!” You called, chasing the said blonde through a vacant house in the backstreets of Dressrosa. “Wait!”
Cavendish had attempted to get in a room on the top floor and slam the door shut on you, but you stopped it short with an open palm and proceeded on inward, closing it gently behind you as you turned to face Cavendish, who stood in the far corner of the room, showing no sign of an intention to turn and face you.
“Cavendi-”
“Get out _______. Before I hurt you.” He interrupted, his voice shaking, a tone far off from his usual confident one.
“Why, would you hurt me? I don’t understand what’s going on!” You said, raising your voice to show your slight frustration and his vagueness.
His breathing hitched in his throat slightly, and in the hanging silence, you could hear him gulp audibly. “_______, I can’t explain it. It’s insanely stupid. You wouldn’t believe me.” He then whipped around to face you with a shaking frown. “If I were to tell you ANYTHING you would-! Euhhh…” Cavendish had started to say loudly, but had lost half his consciousness mid-sentence and stumbled forward with half lidded eyes.
“CAVENDISH!” You gasped, lurching forward rapidly with outstretched arms, catching him before he hit the floor with buckled knees. “There’s something wrong. Nothing has ever stopped you from telling me things before, so what’s stopping you now? You know you can trust me! How else would we have met, if there wasn’t this kind of trust? I would have been just another passer-by fangirl on the streets. Don’t lose faith in me now. Please.” You insisted, tightening your grip on his slightly limp body.
He hadn’t quite passed out yet. He moved slightly and gripped your shoulders, using you as an anchor to pull himself upright and to his feet.
“_______, I’m sorry. It’s just-…” He held his breath for a moment, before finally deciding to continue on. “Look at me. I almost passed out while being fully conscious for no apparent reason. These are the frequent tiring dizzy spells that I’ve been having. They’ve been acting up again, and to the point as to where I fall asleep mid-day, doing activities in the streets. I can’t have that happen around you because…” He sighed slightly with a pained look in his eyes.
You were slightly confused again. You needed more information to understand what he was getting at completely. “What do these dizzy spells do? I mean, falling asleep doesn’t sound bad, but if you’re so worked up, there must be something connected to them that make you afraid.” You stated, trying to prompt further explanation.
“I’m sorry I never told you this before. When I met you. When I should have. I-I… When I fall asleep, my… ‘Other self’ wakes up. As, ridiculous as this sounds, I have a violent alter ego that takes over my body when my consciousness is at rest. He’s dangerous, extremely dangerous, and lately, he’s been acting up. He wants out more often now. He wants control. That’s why I’ve been having frequent tiring dizzy spells where I nearly pass out like I did just now. I’m going to lose soon. I want you away from me, because in minutes, I could be gone, and I don’t know how long he will have control.” Cavendish explained to you with all seriousness in his shaking voice.
“A-alter ego? You mean, you have a split personality that isn’t just some little disease, its physical? I-is that… even possible?” You questioned, slightly shocked at this information.
Cavendish clenched his teeth like he thought you didn’t believe him, or were somehow mocking him in a way. “_______ I’ve woken up with BLOOD on my hands. He’s killed people. I’VE killed people. I don’t want to end up killing you. I can’t… I CAN’T!” He yelled, clenching the fabric of your shirt at your back in his fists as tears pricked at the corners of his tightly shut eyes.
He wasn’t playing around. Cavendish was never this afraid of anything. Ever. You have never seen him like this before, and it pained you to see him in such a condition, so afraid of hurting the silly little girl: you.
“Cavendish…” You paused. “I don’t care about your malicious alter ego at all. In fact, I could care less, because I know for a fact, that you would never hurt me, no matter what consciousness is dominant over your body.” You said firmly with confidence, pulling him close to you and into a tight hug.
“But… No. No you haven’t seen him. He’ll-!”
“No, he won’t. Believe me. Believe in yourself. Find reason to believe.” You interrupted with a reassuring tone.
“I’m… scared though. I’ve never felt so scared.” He admitted, looking into your eyes.
“Well, if you’re scared, let’s start by figuring out the exact reason why. I think there’s something deeper than possibly killing me that scaring you. Find what it is.”
He paused, and let a few thoughts run through his mind. “Why I’m scared. Well, there is one main reason. It’s also, something I’ve been meaning to let you know for a while now too. I’m scared, because… _______, I’m scared because I love you.” He said honestly, staring you directly in the eyes.
You were about to say something, but all your thoughts froze solid in your head when you went over his words. You stared back at him, mouth slightly agape.
“I really meant to tell you this one sooner, but _______, I’m very serious when I say I love you. Over the past few months that we’ve known each other, I’ve come to realize, that not only were you the person I could trust the most, but you were also the most intelligent, sweet, caring, and attractive person I’ve ever seen. My problem was, I just didn’t know when to tell you.” He said. “That’s why I’m so afraid.”
“C-Cavendish…” You started slowly. It was quite the shock to hear that. As much as he craved the attention of multiple girls at once, he really was an honest and faithful person at heart, and he chose you, to be the one he would love. You gulped quietly and then smiled as a light blush dusted your cheeks. “Cavendish, as long as you have that, in your heart, there’s no way you could ever hurt me. You’re too sweet, and far to kind to me. And besides, you and this alter ego, you share the same heart. Wouldn’t that just mean that there’s no possibility of me getting killed at all? Because if you love me, then he must too.”
“_______...”
He looked so relieved, so happy, to hear words like that from you. He was seemingly struggling to find words to address you at this point, with his slightly tearing eyes and look of hope.
“Just shut up about it.” You laughed slightly with a tear of your own in your eyes. “You’re fine. And you’ll be happy to hear, that I love you just as much. Something I’ve also wanted to say for a bit, but I thought it as selfish to do so. But, things have changed, haven’t they? I’ll be fine, Cavendish, I know so, because I believe in us.” You added, angling your head differently and closing the distance between your faces by kissing him gently on the lips.
You had shocked him slightly by doing this, but it was the only way you felt you could show the truth to your words perfectly. Cavendish then started to clench the fabric of your clothes again in response, and started to kiss you back with what little energy he had left from his weary heart and mind from being so afraid.
You gave him hope, and you gave him faith in himself. This was the outcome you wanted. Security, and hope. Things were going to be alright. They just had to be.
Though you had only just began to kiss him, and give him the bit of hope he needed, that didn’t stop the fated from happening. Just as the ten second mark had passed, you felt him leave your lips with a downward motion and a certain limpness. He had collapsed.
“Cavendish!” You said suddenly, gripping him tighter to hold him up. “Are you alright?”
No response. His eyes were closed, and his breathing was at a slower and softer rate than normal. He was asleep. Thoughts of his news to you from earlier made themselves present in your mind, and you started to feel a bit sad. Though, you wondered if it would really happen, and what this other personality would act like, and look like, if there was a physical change factor at all.
“Oh Cavendish…” You mumbled sympathetically with closed eyes.
At that exact moment though, you felt the weight of him become lifted, and you felt no weight but air in your arms. You opened your eyes in confusion and brought your head up. “Cavendish?!”
“Cavendish isn’t here at the moment. Can I take a message?” A voice said from behind you, followed by a dark sort of chuckle.
You whipped around to see who was behind you all of a sudden, and what happened to Cavendish. You gasped at the sight, and stumbled backwards into the wall behind you.
That was Cavendish’s body that stood behind you, but the voice was different, and the appearance was slightly different too. His hair wasn’t curled anymore, it was more straight and loose, and there was this sick sort of smile plastered across his face, and strictly white eyes, barely a trace of a pupil there unless you were to have looked hard enough for it. This was the alter ego he was talking about. It had to be.
“You… w-what is your name?” You asked, finding it hard to keep a stable voice for the shock of seeing this man change so suddenly. You had to validate your thoughts though. You had to.
“Hakuba, my dear. The less friendly side of the Cavendish you know oh so well.” He answered with that slick grin of his.
“R-right…” You nodded, back against the cold stone wall. So this was him.
“You look scared shitless! Afraid I’m going to kill you?” He laughed hoarsely.
“No. That’s the least of my concerns.” You answered.
“Oh? You know I won’t do it?”
“Exactly. You and Cavendish share the same heart, and…” You paused, thinking about the meaningful talk you had only just moments ago. “There’s no way you’d kill someone that has love connected to that heart.”
“Ooooh, so he finally told you, didn’t he? I was wondering when he would. That would explain the sudden change of heart rate I felt about a minute ago. Claps for Cav.” He said with a smart assed tone.
You didn’t really have a response for that, so instead, you just stared at this, new-ish form in front of you. Hakuba… this was his alter ego. He looked, menacing, sadistic, and ruthless. It was a rather frightening thing to see at first, but you knew that he was connected to Cavendish. They were two in the same person, and as long as they shared the same body, you knew you would be safe from harm, just like you believed. But taking in the sight of Hakuba, he bore the same resemblance of Cavendish, with a sort of sick twist. It was different, but… there was something about it you were drawn to, something you liked, strangely. Oh no, were you one of those people with kinks for sadists? He looked like a sadist… and your heart sped up a bit looking at him.
“_______ no. Shut up. You’re sick. You love Cavendish not… oh, this is basically Cavendish. Fuuuuck meeeee!”
“Whatcha staring at _______? Intrigued by me?” Hakuba asked, approaching you against the wall.
“… Y-yes.” You responded, snapping out of your thoughts. You were actually quite intrigue by him. There was something that drew you too him. It was about his appearance, and maybe, a bit of his personality and nature too. You were just... drawn to it in a certain way.
Hakuba had reached you at the wall, and locked you against it without a direction for you to go now. He placed his hands on your shoulders and gripped them tightly. Tight enough to leave a bruise. You winced slightly, as his grip was a bit painful.
“_______, I’ve got news for you.” He growled. “With Cavendish being in love with you, you are very much correct about the connection between us at heart. But, with this fact in place, I’m sure you’ve gathered enough information to figure, that I too, love you as well. The only thing is, he and I show our love in completely different ways.” He said roughly with a hint of a purr as he tightened his grip and closed you in further against the wall.
You shuddered at the words. Oh god, were you getting turned on by his alter ego? At a time like this?
“Hmm? Is that a blush I’m seeing on your cheeks? Now, I think I interrupted something before I came here, correct?”
“Possibly.” You answered simply, erasing the shaky tone from your voice, and trying to respond normally to him, even with these strange thoughts crossing your mind.
He chuckled. “Well then, I think I’m going to finish that business.” He purred. “Do you have a problem?” He added, leaning in close to your face.
You stiffened and huffed airily.
“Why… Am I turned on by him? This is so… so weird!” You thought. But you couldn’t exactly hide the excitement that rose in your gut. It was a sudden feeling that you didn’t know existed, but here it was. That’s what drew you too him before. He was actually, quite attractive the way he was, and the hoarseness of his voice, and just the way he was seemingly treating you. You were just so attracted to it. Your hidden kink. Good god you did have one.
“Go for it, Hakuba. I don’t mind, one bit.” You finally answered.
Hakuba chuckled heartily. “You’ve got some serious kinks _______. By the way, I’m a sadist.” He added, flashing that wide sadistic smile he had the moment you first saw him change.
With that, Hakuba had shoved his lips onto yours, picking up the kiss Cavendish had left you with, only this time, it wasn’t exactly as sweet as it was before. It was demanding, rough, and almost violent. And the worst part was, you totally asked for it. You gave in to a newly apparent feeling that you had towards this man. But, it was also just another personality trait of Cavendish. A more rough and dominant side of him, connected at heart. It was two in the same, so you had no reason to feel guilt. Almost the same person, different love. And, you did sort of want to finish off what you had started before, so you easily gave in to your strange attraction for this sadistic man with little hesitation.
“I disgust myself.” You thought, feeling disgusted with the fact that Hakuba was attractive. But, that thought was interrupted when you felt a rough bite on your lip. You gasped at the pain, and Hakuba took this chance to invade your mouth with his tongue, turning a hot make out session on you. You stifled a groan at the sudden nature of it, and tasted the mix of blood with saliva. Great. He drew blood when he bit. But, you liked it to an extent. God you were sick.
“This one’s for Cavendish. Let him know I did this one for him.” Hakuba said, breaking from you and suddenly biting at your neck, leaving a bruise.
“J-jesus!” You yelped loudly.
“You enjoy it. I can fucking tell.” Hakuba chuckled, continuing to suck on various parts of your neck and collar bone. “I told you, I love differently.”
Enough had gone on, and you couldn’t stifle the small little moans that welled up inside you at this treatment. Being shoved up against the wall, his hands holding you against it by your hips and chest, pressed body to body in this guilty heated love. His style, was about inflicting a little more pain on you as you went, but not enough to hurt you badly. You could feel the bruises forming on your neck, and the dull pain in your arms and chest, there was going to be some sort of mark there tomorrow from his grabbing and pushing.
“H-Hakuba, k-knock it off!” You gasped as he started to leave a trail of marks down your chest.
You only earned a dark chuckle from him as he gripped your breast roughly, making you squeak and moan. You had to take this yourself before you became lost in his feverish actions. Quickly, you took your arms and grabbed him by the shoulders, jerking him upwards and slamming your lips against his again with your arms wrapped around him. He smirked at this, and continued on with his roughness, hands all over your body with the sounds of your heavy beating hearts.
This went on for minutes, and you were getting sore, and tired quickly. You were going limp, and this would give him complete dominance over you if you did.
“Shit.”
Losing strength, you started to go limp, and braced for what he was going to do next. But, that never came. You looked up, and seen that Hakuba looked drowsy himself.
“_______, remember this, we both love you. I just know how to have a bit more fun with you, that’s all~. Cavendish will see you in the morning. Don’t forget me.” He said with a teasing tone, before passing out on the floor at your feet, returning to the sweet sleeping Cavendish you seen before. Golden curls and handsome features galore.
You panted heavily and slid down the side of the wall. “Jesus Christ… I can’t believe I got myself into that.” You said airily. “. . . Jeez. That’s quite the alter ego you’ve got there Cavendish. Quite… the alter… ego…” You started to say, but soon, your tiredness took over, and you let yourself lean back against the wall, and fall asleep on the floor sitting upright, Cavendish at your feet.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The light of the early morning sun peeked through the open window of the vacant house you sat in at the floor. It poured over your body, illuminating it with its pinkish yellow glow. The light hit your eyelids, and you woke from its presence, yawning slightly and leaning forward to check your surroundings. You were still in the same room. And Cavendish, that’s right. Last night… that was something else. Looking down at where you remember him lying, he was still there, but due to your drowsiness, you didn’t notice he was sitting up right away. Through blurred vision, you rubbed your eyes until it was clear and you looked at Cavendish sitting up. He looked to have woken up only moments before you had, and the look on his face, was a rather horrified one.
“Cavendish?” You said quietly with a yawn. “You look shocked, what’s the matter?
He raised a finger and pointed at your neck and chest. “B-bruises. He… I turned last night, didn’t I?”
“Oh, yeah, Hakuba came over your body last night.” You admitted, touching the bruises with your fingers.
“He hurt you. I knew it. I’m… I’m so sorry… I knew you should have gotten away from me before I-!”
“Cavendish, stop there.” You said, looking at him with honest eyes. “You and Hakuba, are one in the same person. You are connected at the heart like I said before. I know so, because Hakuba, told me he loved me as well. Only because, he was also you. These aren’t marks of beatings, these are his marks of love. He told me that you and he love differently, and his way is… well, more or less this.” You said. “I just want you to know he didn’t hurt me. Because then you’d drive me away. Cavendish, I was never hurt. Know this please. These are just your other self’s love marks, because he felt what your heart did.”
He sat there for a moment, and filtered your words through his head. He needed to be sure you were alright. While he was processing, you didn’t hesitate to crawl over to Cavendish and sit yourself in his lap, hugging him closely. “I promise I’m not hurt. Besides, I love you both. You are like two sides of the same coin. One can’t exist without the other. I enjoy you both, because your hearts intentions are true.” You said.
“_______... As long as you’re okay… then…” Cavendish started, taking a large gulp. “If you can, please don’t go. I want you to stay, I was just afraid of you getting hurt because of his barbaric nature. But…”
“But I’m here, alive and well. I will always stay. I love you too much to go.” You said honestly with a small sweet smile. You moved to try and kiss him lightly on the nose, but the bruises on your neck stopped you short with the dull pain they left from last night. “Gck! Dammit…”
Cavendish angled his head down at that moment and began to kiss your bruises. “If this is his kind of love towards you, then what I’ll do for you is every time he does this, I will offer you my sweet kisses in the morning to make you feel better then.” He said, gingerly holding you against him as he kissed the bruises.
You huffed. “Thank you. You create the perfect contrast. From rough to sweet… I don’t think I could have fallen in love with a better man.”
“I’m glad that’s what you think. It’s so reassuring.” Cavendish said, finally smiling a smile of relief. “I love you _______.”
“And I love you, Cavendish.” You replied.
“Both of you.”
