You're right.Β Avatar is kind of the anti-MLP.Β One was a trend setter that didn't treat it's audience like morons, developed it's characters, established it's villains, and had a proper story from start to finish.Β And the other was MLP, the cartoon equivalent of a vegan hot dog.Β Completely devoid of meat and flavor and served only to people who either understand the novelty and can joke about it or are too stupid to know better.

What, you mean the portion of DHX in Vancouver that in the past eight years have done almost nothing but new iterations of toy commercials, adaptations that were a decade late, or series launched by a different studio that no one has the decency to let die?Β Oh yeah, i can really see the effort in the total lack of originality in MLP and Pound Puppies.

Not really, and you just tapped into a major problem.Β Just because it's aimed at kids doesn't mean it has to be stupid.Β We really do treat kids like idiots these days.Β I mean granted they are, but they are still capable of learning and will still respond to a challenge, so maybe there should be more shows taking risks instead of more MLPs that treat them as barely functioning.

And from what I can tell MLP is taking steps in that direction, but maybe you should try to be a bit more lenient with your cynicism about My Little Pony. It's still made not for it's own sake, but to sell toys. That's Hasbro's method. It's not despicable or manipulative, they're using available and useful methods in order to sell their products. We're lucky that those shows happen to be good on occasion in cases like Transformers or G4 My Little Pony.
