Description Rick O'Connell's Medjai Tattoo of The Mummy films.

Supposedly he got the tattoo at his orphanage in Cairo, which is a mark of a Medjai warrior, "a defender of mankind," as Ardeth Bay says in The Mummy Returns.

This took stupidly long to do x3 Manly because the references I have are... Well... Let say poor, here, have a look:

[link] [link] [link]

Since my laptop refused to print screen while I was watching the movie (probably copyright or something), I had to take the pictures with my mobile phone camera >.>
Since all three references look different, I just merged them together. And I can't draw snakes.

Oh, and I doubt it, but if anyone wants to use it, refs, photomanips ect, just ask/link/credit :3

Edit: Or as ~Saki-ness has done, get a tattoo of it ;3

VERY NICELY DONE!

It IS a combination of the eye of Isis and the Eye of Horus. The cobras (which you can only see clearly in the third picture you posted) are actually wearing the crowns of Upper and Lower Egypt (before the two were unified into one Egyptian kingdom, and the crowns combined.) My opinion: this image suggest the separate but balanced unity of the male and female, the upper and the lower (and a WHOLE lot more potential symbolism...)

I also attempted recreating this piece ([link] ) myself. What scene did you find the second image? I recognize the first and third images, but not the middle one.

Again, Very nicely done!

Thank you ;3 Your version is well done too, especially as it's more detailed than mine.

I agree that it's full of symbolism and makes good use of lots of bits and pieces from Ancient Egypt. But it also depends on when the symbol was supposed to come from - since it's on walls of tombs etc, it's possible it is supposed to date back to the time before Egypt's unification (at least, I don't remember them mentioning how long it had been around...?), and therefore simply just means that the Medjai worked across the two different kingdoms. Or, if could mean like you said, about balance.

I can't remember exactly where I got the second image, but I know it's on the wrist of a carved person/god on a wall of a tomb and is poooosibly from the beginning of the second film - I would look but I don't have access to my film currently and I honestly can't remember off the top of my head.

I think it might be both the Eye of Horus as well as the Eye of Isis joined together. But I honestly can't remember But either way, yes, it does look a lot like it has one of the Eye's in, so symbolic of Egypt as they are.
