I used to love Darkwing Duck too.Β In fact, I used to have those DW decals in my bedroom when I was a kid.Β Oh, and I'm not a big fan of the 'modern' drawing/CGI style either.Β Nice drawing BTW.

Darkwing Duck was a huge part of my childhood and one of the major inspirations for me for getting into writing/storyboarding.Β Glad to see others still remember it.Β I would also like to see the show revived.Β Not in the new Duck Tales style, but just revive it in the original style.Β They could literally just show reruns of the original series and then start making new episodes to continue the series.Β The one minute "show within a show" concept they had in the new Duck Tales looked really good.Β If they ran with that, it could really work to revive Darkwing Duck without having conflicting styles with the new Duck Tales.Β Unfortunately, I'm weary that the people running Disney animation right now couldn't do the show justice.
Also, your attention to detail in this image is amazing.Β Your attention to detail in all your images is amazing.Β You have some of the best monochrome artwork I've ever seen.

To watch Gosalyn grow episode by episode would be epic. And a unique approach, I don't know many shows that would do that. Avatar kinda does, that's why it's my absolute favorite. In Harry Potter the characters grow up but stick to their personalities, without serious changes. Harry is always oppressed, Ron is always afraid, Hermione is always organized - be it first movie or eighth. In MD House Greg changes but not to better. MLP fails at growth but shows personalities well. Most shows are like Simpsons - you can watch episodes in any order.
I don't mean changes like getting a scar or wings, losing someone, buying a house, becoming depressed or so. I mean a real growth that makes children so interesting, so fun to watch. Ups and downs, learning how to deal with problems, becoming brave, decisive, smart, responsible, strong... The one who does thatΒ first will take the next show market wave, dominate and invent a new direction everyone else will follow. That would be a revolution in both animation and psychology.
Thank you.

Yeah, what you're describing is serialization.Β And if they rebooted the series with a serialized plot, it would make Darkwing Duck more unique compared to the other Disney shows, which are episodic.Β Though I'd say MLP and the original Darkwing were episodic with soft serialization.Β Season 1 Fluttershy is nothing like Season 8 Fluttershy, Season 1 Rainbow Dash hates reading and pets, but by season 4 she loves them, etc.Β But going full on serialization might be hard for Darkwing.
Anyway, I also prefer serialization over episodic concepts.Β Most of the pilots I've written are influenced by anime, where the vast majority of anime go for serialized stories rather than episodic.Β That's the model Avatar used.Β I would like to see more western animation do the same, but its a lot harder to implement.Β Studios would rather make episodic content which can be released in staggered, irregular periods.Β Anyway, long-winded way of me saying you might want to look into anime if you don't already.

I'm not a crazy anime fan who would watch everything but I have a few dozens of titles in my "done" list. Last time I started Made in Abyss and just my dumb luck - it's not complete. It's the first time I'm stuck like this with an unfinished project. I normally watch what's recommended and tested in time.
Shaman King is much fun in terms of characters progression. Sailor Moon is such a silly childhood thing, very nostalgic but I doubt I would watch it now, it's too flat-plotted. Same as Pokemon. I just can't take hundreds of episodes of repetitive stuff. That's why I'll never watch Naruto. DN or NGE take very special mood to watch.
Many titles are... weird. Typical animes about typical teens yelling, fighting, laughing, making silly faces, showing panties, slapping boys for being near at that moment, meeting, talking, living... Slice of life, right? I never know what is interesting and what is a time sponge. And I lack time to try them all. So... sometimes I find something worthy. But not often.
Have you seen FotP?

Well, some anime is an acquired taste.Β Or I should say, relies heavily on nods to Japanese culture.Β But anime is so vast, there's something in every genre.Β And many which take inspiration from the west.Β So in most cases, you can find an anime that fits the same tastes you have for western cartoons/live action film.Β Of course, it does still take time to track them down and watch them.Β And if I had your drawing talent, I'd be spending most of that time drawing and far less time watching shows, lol.
But sorry, I don't know what FotP is.Β I've seen all the others you named, but I don't recognize that acronym.

Well, since the original DuckTales and Darkwing Duck had a shared continuity, perhaps they'll reboot Darkwing too as a spinoff of the new series?

But the style... It's awful. It's a level of a newborn studio, not a studio with 70+ years of gathering the BEST experience around the planet. If Hasbro did it, I would probably like it. And if Disney made a new cartoon like that. But... honestly, I tried to like it. And I did like some things like more personality of the ducklings. More dynamics. But I really would rather re-watch the original.
Disney was always a symbol of top quality and artistic mastery to me. But it ended at about Brother Bear. The following was nice at best. But not genius. Fancy 3D is not enough. Shrek (Dreamworks, yes) had it back then, had enough to impress. Well, yeah, masses need 8k quality forgettable popcorn-movies. A few people in the world see keen enough to understand the great abyss of difference between the Disney eras. And I'm blessed and cursed to see and I'm unable to accept. I don't mind this modern Duck Tales stuff, really. It's kinda fun. I just expected more. Way more. So it hurts.

Great work as always, I remember getting into that show a few years ago, it was I think on of my forays that eventually led me to where I am today both interest wise and art wise, I actually used DWD as an inspiration several times in my Freshman Comp class when I was in college a few years ago, problem is I do my best writing when I have lightbulb moments and it just kind of flows out of my pencil so to speak, without that certain mindset, I have a tendency to overthink things to the point of 'why bother?'. So these days I stick to drawing and reading other peoples fics.

Yeah, we all need inspiration. Someone Grand to look up to and wish to create something as good. It's a good idea to fill yourself with new experience and then express yourself. You can't create anything new anyway, only God can. You only rearrange what already exists into something unusual. And fun. ^__^
And then... when you're so caught up in art you lose yourself in it, lose your ego, become art itself and then God creates through you. It's important to let go sometimes. When it happens, it's real magic. But you can't experience it. When you're "here", no one else can fit into that body of yours. It's a complex concept. But those who had it know it's true.Β

Actually, now that I think about it, I did try not too long ago to write an RD fic based on one of the IDW comics, and I have some good material (descriptor type stuff), but the words needed to connect those parts eludes me, I think I uploaded what I had on my account if you wanted to check it out.
