Description I was just sitting here thinking of my ocs...namely adrian and i always find myself giving characters dialogue in sketches and just ...trying to hear their voices come through in that dialogue. Has anyone ever found themselves doing this too? Trying to find the perfect voice? So many of them flow through my brain just for one character but i cant decide which fits them best. I still feel as though having one established would totally complete a character.                   For example adrian...hes difficult though because i like to see him as very...refined and typical classy rich boy at the same time though, hes still big and angry and intimidating, its kinda hard to find the perfect middle ground for that. Just a rlly nice mix of both.                                                                   Brrrrr anyways dont mind me just ramblin on about a made up character thats very near n dear to me.

Personally I love playing with things like the sims that let you change pitch and stuff in the character creation. Miitomo does this, too, and I played with it for so long. Sometimes I have an idea I try to match and then other times I just play with it until I find something that sounds "Right"

Yesss!! I used to love playing w the voices in the sims, i just havent opened it in SO long. After having a computer that would freak out over opening the internet, ive been wary of using anything the requires a ton of memory ;; even tho i have a nice clean new computer haha. But yea!! I may actually try miitomo thats the new app right? Cause itd probably be super helpful for me in this situation. Especially w adrian whos a character that i wanna get just right but who has so many different conflicting types, like i want elegant but also kinda gruff and i feel like its hard to get both through since they are so different. Ill figure it eventually though, i guess ill really know when its the right voice! Itll just fit!

You're definitely not the only one! We usually call that "finding a voice claim" since it's sort of finding a voice you feel best represents the character, usually an original one of the creator's. Now this is just me, but when you talked about the sort of voice to give Adrian, a couple possibilities came to mind though I also do bid you luck in finding one. In the meantime, I hope one of these seems to help you best:

youtu.be/2EEKcWoyuEw (Peter O' Toole as Anton Ego from Disney's Ratatouille)

youtu.be/pfgTQviVTBU (This has two possibilities- Terrence Stamp as Ramsley the butler from Disney's Haunted Mansion and Nathaniel Parker as Master Gracey)

youtu.be/Pcpf1EQR0Z8 (J Michael Tatum as Sebastian Michaelis from Black Butler and Daniel Fredrick as Grell Sutcliff, also from Black Butler)

Now if your original character is a little younger than that, then perhaps these would suffice instead?- youtu.be/JdPSFhEDfM4 (Brina Palencia as Ciel Phantomhive from Black butler and Luci Christian as Alois Trancy)

I'm sorry if I wasn't much help, but I really do wish you luck on finding a voice claim for him!

Nah not just you. I sometimes find myself saying stuff out loud trying to figure out how they would sound or say something. Also to figure out how raspy or something their voice is...the little quirks.

I think doing stuff like that is important cause you start to figure waaaay more stuff out about ur character, yknow?

Yea!! Ive actually been goin back and forth between certain quirks cause im not quite sure how i want my characters to sound. Like woah that sounds good, but maybe THIS would be even better. Then i just get waaaaay too many ideas in my head.   But yea i agree! I think you can figure out a lot about a characters personality through their voice!
