I suppose it would make sense if you disliked him, but I always sort of felt pity for him. After all, he did suffer on his own. Then again, perhaps I'll have to re-read the story to re-assess my opinion of him...

I know! Poor guy. And here, when Pearl is so.... I mean gee, little demon child, it's bad enough that he's practically killing himself over his, say, two or three mistakes, without you acting like he's got the freakin' plague! Dang it, Pearl, the poor minister needs some love! (Hester knows it.)

haha i feel the same way! and it wasnt even 2 or 3 mistakes.. it was ONE. JUST ONE. sometimes i wish pearl was just a leeetle more considerate ..but i guess it wouldnt be pearl if she was!
