Now that the last few book from the 3145 line have published I can show off my final pieces, the big print covers.This is the cover for Field Manual 3145, the first full print cover I've done officially for Battletech.
A Republic Malice stands over a downed Tundra Wolf, covering Simian Battle Armor is they help evacuate the crew of a disabled Winston Combat Vehicle. A massive Ares tripod and a Prefect cover the rear as a slow retreat to their dropships is made during an assault by Clan Wolf's Beta Galaxy.

I have recently been reduxing several of my favorite mechs in Battletech in an effort to make them: more appealing, less complicated and pricey, fit their mission profile better, provide more diverse variants or more variants period, ect. The Malice is one of the mechs I am working with and I have to tell you all something that no one has put on any forum that I have seen.
The Malice's main variant, the one in the picture, comes to 102.5 tons when you add together the weight of all its components. Thats 2.5 tons overweight. Appearantly, no one at Wizkids did their math homework when they made it, and its not the only one. Dozens of mechs on Sarna are overweight based on their armament and equipment.
For the Malice main variant I had to drop it to 16.5 tons of ferro-fib armor (18.5 tons of protection) and 11 double heatsinks to fit all its gear plus much needed CASE, but that left me 4 critical slots in the red, which is ok because half the time I disregard slots anyway.

Flying-Debris might do cool concepts, but I think I like your full-covers more.

I believe I've said this before, but you create some truly impressive paintings of mechs. I love the one front and center. (And any similarities to a Mach II, to me, is a good thing...)

I don't like thick lasers. TheΒ intensity they need to cut armor is more important than how wide the beam is.

I do a fair bit of work for them, not as much as they wish at times. I do tons of work for the fans though.

Those are pretty good looking mechs, of course I'd always make changes when doing them myself, but at least they're not examples of mechs that need a lot of fixing.
