Now that I've thought about it and observed the piece in more detail and have come up with a new analysis. The white background represents to the artist that the earth is one huge abyss where nothing really matters to the artist, but this is what she protrays on the outside. On the inside, her world is a beautiful bleach secluded on an island; the storm cloud in the corner marks that there is something troubling going on her life and the two birds are the on-lookers that peer into her inner world and watch over it with care. The derpy shark isn't anything bad but is actually a friend of the artist which explains it's derpy appearance. The true threat and villain in this girl's world is the crab with it's claws raised in threat and it's evil red coloration signaling danger or rage. Lastly the odd, solitary line in the drawing may be considered a mistake to some but to me it represents the artist's rope to reality that she can easily grasp and pull herself out of her beach world fantasy.
