Shit. I wrote a 200 word critique on my iPad and somehow I couls not get any further and all I could see is the deviation, I tried to move back to my text and submit and lost the whole damn thing.
dont have the patience to blow another hour on it and risk that will happen again, so:
it is much better centered so a better composition.
the anatomy seems off on the head making the jaw look disjointed or the head elongated.
The eye needs more life. I don't like the way you drew the "spokes" in it. I would do a bit bigger pupil with a highlight in it, and brighter yellow with orange spokes instead that don't go all the way to the pupil.
has a nice pop art look to it, like the colors.

The best part is, Shinji Higuchi is directing the special effects! I've been watching the Gamera heisei trilogy over and over to get prepared for Godzilla 2016. If he and his team can do Gamera justice and make him scary yet still somewhat of a kids hero, imagine what they will do for Godzilla.

Oh, I have no doubt about the effects being good. The story might be iffy if it's Anno, though he might not be in NGE mode.
