For me I wanted to go in Slytherin, so I did all of the ones that I thought would get me in Slytherin, but they said, 'You are very brave, you should go into Gryffindor !'

I originally thought I would get Ravenclaw. Was a bit shocked when I got Gryffindor; now I'm rather happy with my house.

Ugh, total identity crisis. I've been going around for years thinking of myself as a Ravenclaw, but I take the Pottermore test, and it turns out I'm a Gryffindor!
I've decided that the only justification I can come up with for me being Sorted into Gryffindor is that I'm quite like Hermione, and she's a Gryffindor, so there you go. (shrug)

You would think so, right? But what I'm saying is that the quiz didn't really seem to be formatted correctly so that people would really get the house they were best suited to.
I really don't know -- I would like to think that JKR knows what she was doing, and that I'm like Neville and it turns out that I was meant to be kickass all along. But I just can't help but hang onto a little sliver of doubt.

Just my opinion, though. I got the house I was hoping for, so, I guess I can't talk.
xD Interesting observation. I guess there are just so many weird, bookish nerds who read Harry Potter that the outcry "POTTERMORE IS FAKE!" sounded really loud.
I always thought that knowledge was what I valued over everything else -- that's why I was sure I would be a Ravenclaw. But maybe it's been justice and bravery all this time, and I never even knew it.

Well, the house you're sorted into doesn't necessarily reflect what you value over everything else. Like you said, Hermione was incredibly intelligent and valued intelligence, but she still wound up in Gryffindor. My boyfriend, who is also annoyingly smart and clever, wound up in Hufflepuff because it fit his character better. And that's what the sorting is about; not just values or skills, but overall character.

The reason Hermione ended up in Gryffindor rather than Ravenclaw was that she valued friendship and bravery over "books and cleverness", whereas someone like Luna might think that if you don't have an open mind and an active imagination, you're not really worth her time. It is our choices that make us who we are, after all, so what we choose to label as being important reflects our inner character and thus our houses.

Naturally, but what we chose to label as important isn't the ONLY thing that reflects our inner character. There are many, MANY other things that all add up to who we are; our overall character, like I said.

Of course -- the Sorting is obviously more complex than simply analyzing the priorities of the person in question. Let's just say "there's probably more to the Sorting process than meets the eye" and end this discussion, OK?
