Virgil cursed as he urged himself to fly faster. Richie was trapped on that floating head thing and the league was prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice to defeat Brainiac. He couldn't let that happen!
Flying through the eye that John had busted through he gripped the remote tighter. It was too quite, the Justice League was already here. There should be sounds of fighting by now. Zipping through the hallways following the tracking device from Backpack he found them quickly. But was unprepared for what he found.
Cables held J'onn aloft digitizing his data, Virgil gasped as he disappeared. The cables disappeared around a corner and Virgil charged after them. And found himself face to face with Richie. He smiled and reached out to grab his friend when he noticed something...different.
Richie's hair was standing on end, as if he had stuck his finger in an electric socket. His face was covered in wires and blinking lights, he was smiling eerily and the cables were being withdrawn into his fingertips.
Virgil stumbled backwards, shocked. The metabreed entered the hallway, cowering behind Richie like a dog commanded to heel. "No! No, no, no!" Virgil repeated it over and over again. Wishing it wouldn't be true, that it was all just a dream.
He tried to power down Backpack but Richie just smiled and said, in a voice that was Richie's but wasn't all at the same time. "Sorry V man. I've disconnected it. But I'm so glad that you listened to me when I told you to get it. If you had been here when the league got here. You guys actually MIGHT have been able to stop me." He laughed as he caressed Virgil's cheek, the cables sinking into flesh, and Virgil screamed as he was turned to data.

Ssooo...we've seen plenty of Brainiac possessed Richies, but I don't think I've ever seen it the other way around. In my opinion Richie is hanging on the edge anyway. All those smarts I don't have any doubt that he's built some weapons in his head that would put nuclear arms to shame, although Virgil keeps him from jumping off that cliff. However, I think that if Richie could have taken over Brainiac, he would have fallen headfirst and not even Virgil could have stopped him.
