‘Walk with you, walk with me...’

Angelic princes, brothers MICHAEL and GABRIEL wherever the road should take them. Let's see if anyone else can pick out my favorite feature of this one. ^_^ I really didn't want them to look so darned serious. Too many pictures seem to do that, so I had Gabriel laughing and leaning; almost as though he were imparting a joke.

’He said, 'Do you know why I've come here to you? I now have to go back to fight against the angel-prince of Persia, and when I get him out of the way, the angel-prince of Greece will arrive. But first let me tell you what's written in The True Book. No one helps me in my fight against these evil beings except Michael, your prince.’ ~Daniel 10:20-21

The Book of Daniel records virtually the only known biblical reference of a relationship between two angels --as well as the spiritual war that they often must face. Gabriel is the one speaking here, informing the prophet Daniel that he had been ‘delayed’ for 21 days by the demon prince of Persia until Michael came to his assistance.

This just might mark my LONGEST duration spent between the start and finish of a single piece of artwork. I originally began ‘Celestial Brothers’ in 2007. I had just completed all of the original rough sketch and started clean-up for the watercolors when my mother took ill. Sidelined w/ my own illness just shortly afterwards that left me nearly 3 years on the burner, it has quite literally been sitting in hiatus ever since 2008.

Much as I’d hate to admit it, I really had almost forgotten about this painting entirely until a fan of my inspirational-themed works contacted me yesterday asking if I had any reprints of the St. Michael painting. I didn’t --or at least not yet, but as Michael’s was done right around that same time frame, the request reminded me that this work was still waiting.

I spent about 2-2 1/2 hours in waters today this afternoon (shade, adding light, the background) all from my snowed in, -14 degree wind chill, blizzard raging outside my door, office here in WNY *LOL!* Still not 'exactly' completed yet. Soon as this dries completely, I will be doing a color wash.
