Description Set (Seth, Seti, Sutekh, Setekh, Setesh, Suty) verses Apep (Apophis).

I wanted to do Apophis by nothing I did of him alone seemed right. So I threw in Set and it just worked *^_^* I have some issues with how Set turned out but it's not extremely bad.

I based Apep off a banded egyptian cobra. I couldn't figure out what kind he was. Some but not all depictions showed him with wings and I liked wings so I gave him wings.

Inked lines, digital coloring, photomanipulation.

"Red and yellow, kill a fellow..."
Did you base Apopi's colors off of that snake color pattern saying?
It's beautiful work!

Not really because that's not a saying for cobra's. That's for coral and king snakes which for some varieties are almost indestinguishable due to their red yellow and black markings. But red on yellow (black, yellow, red, yellow, black) is the venomus Coral snake. Red on black (black, red, yellow, red, black) is the harmless King snake.

I based Apep on a banded Egyptian Cobra. It's brown and creamish yellow banded. Turned out kinda red and yellow though so I see where you got the idea. Would have been neat had I thought of that but I just picked an existing snake and copied it's markings.

Thanks *^_^*

Wow! Thanks for that lesson! I always thought if it was red then yellow or yellow than red it was a poisonous snake, of any kind. But it seems if it's two bands of yellow with red in between - then it's a poisonous snake, and if it's two red bands with yellow in between, it's a harmless snake. Confusing!!!

You are very welcome! Hey, whether you thought of it or not, the color symbolism is amazing! Maybe it was subconscious? Either way, great work!

And I just heard of a cobra or python - I think python - in - again, I think Africa - Africa that actually can kill humans, and will eat them. There was a documentary with pictures (not live, one of the men who came across it showed his picture) of such a snake! Scary - but interesting...King of makes me think if that is the snake Apopi is based off of...?

Take care now!

most cobras can kill humans but one that can eat one? WOW. Hope never to run into one of those.

I watched some documentary about it. Again, there was a picture (the man the snake killed was already dead.) Yeah...I hope never to run into one of those either!!!
