Description Yule is a little arctic spirit fox, named after the Germanic mid-winter festival also associated with Christmas.
I like to think that he has a playful character! ^^ Here he's pouncing his ball that I hid beneath the cover~

He's my first art doll! It took quite a while with all the trial and error I went through but I am so glad that I managed to finish this project!
In my current situation, finishing something I can be proud of is really something I needed. (As you can see I am still not very active due to this situation.)
Almost everything was a first, really. I had never truly sculpted before (apart from a tryout a few weeks earlier or so), never really sown anything other than a toddler's hobby project, never used acrylics... etc, haha. But I looked up lots and lots of references and tutorials, and it's thanks to the wonderful people who made these tutorials and who supported me with kindness and information that I was able to create this doll ~

My special thanks go to StorybookCreatures first and foremost, for being such a lovely person. Her extensive tutorials and helpful replies really were a life saver!
I'd also really like to thank KaypeaCreations and RhiannonWoolf for their helpful videos/tutorials ^^

I'd love to make more projects in the future, but I probably need a better workspace first. My whole bedroom is covered in fur and materials XD

Folder of more photos of different angles and poses! Β  : sta.sh/2u92vlseiax?edit=1

He looks so real! You should be very proud of yourself for this being your first art doll! And there's nowhere to go but up; I can't wait to see more!

AHHH! You did such a wonderful job! You're first go at it too? You did a great job on the body, the anatomy is just perfect If you continue making these I would love to see! You really did well hun

Ahhh thank you!
I did try my best to keep the anatomy as close to that of a real arctic fox as I could get it x) I'm really glad that you like it!
I really like the idea of putting more ideas to life in the form of these dolls so I hope I can make one at least once in a while x3
Seeing your progress/tutorial videos is what first inspired me to give it a try! x3 So thank you a lot! I think a new door opened for me haha~

Omg!! You did such a good job! Looks like he's very poseable, that's awesome. (: I really like the shape of the front legs, they are very cute! I like how the entire back of the ears is covered in fur too.
You even took the time to fur the entire face and sew all the fur on! I cut corners on my first doll that I wish I had not, cause I wanted to get it done faster. lol
Wow, very nice work!!

Thank you so much! I couldn't have done it without you.
I spent a lot of time on it and retried multiple parts (pulling out stitches, cutting off parts to sow on new and better fitting ones, etc) because if I wanted to convince myself that this is a thing I might actually pick up for more projects I'd want to see what was the best I could do at this point, if you follow. On the flip side it would also be something I could be proud of if it turned out to be my only doll project.
I am quite happy with how posable he is x) I could only truly start testing it once I had sown the fur on the legs so it all felt so risky and I feel lucky that it turned out well~

I'd love to do more projects when I have a more proper workspace, but I kind of hope you too can feel a littlebit of pride in that your work has been such a great help even if this is the only doll I have made? I happened to read a littlebit of an earlier conversation below your tutorials and can't help but hope that for revealing the things you have learned through trial and error you will get enough recognition and satisfaction from people's creations.
I cannot guarantee that I will be able to make more in the future (even if I want to!) but I want you to know that this project and your help in it really means a lot to me ^^ (I have my reasons)
I am sure your work has inspired and helped many others in the way that it has for me ^^
( I hope this wasn't too sappy, lol )

Yes! I'm always happy when I can help and encourage people to make art! (: I figure most people who will try making a doll will only make one or two because it is such a complex project. It is a very unique experience though, and is pretty cool to say you made your own poseable doll from scratch!! I have received many many thank yous for making my tutorial, I definitely feel it was well worth the time to make. (: I've always loved learning and making a new project, whether it was from my art teachers in school, from a book, or one I found online, I really appreciate people sharing these fun ideas, and who knew it's just as fun to share your own! ^u^
Awww! I'm touched that it means a lot to you!! I really enjoy chatting about creating and seeing what people come up with. I really am impressed(...and a bit.. a lot jealous) of how great and well made your first doll is!(much better than my first) lol They do take a lot of time to make so it's hard to find time for them, but also know that you get faster with each one. (: Thank you for letting me know! It encourages me to do better and work harder myself. (: and no it's not too sappy. ^u^
