Description "Dulgofar" or "Dulgofa", anyway the sword of general Sherra in Slayers' novels. This is the first time that I carve wood in this way and the first time I make a tassel, but I love the result!!!   you can see the only image available of Dulgofar here kanzaka.wikia.com/wiki/Dulgofa…

oh, thank you, dear! This was my first attempt in sculpture indeed, because the other commissions were more "simple"... I think XD I make and sell wooden replicates of cartoons, comics or videogames weapons for cosplay in my spare time you can see some of them in my "woodcraft" folder and all in my facebook page www.facebook.com/pages/La-fuci…
the name means "Hephaestus' forge" in italian, although I do not work metal

They are all very nice indeed.  You have a lovely attention to detail--or a remarkable patience for dealing with it, to put it another way, as I cannot imagine such painstaking replication being done in a rush

Aawww, you are too kind!!! Well, I think I have both attention to details and remarkable patience and this is funny because I am not a very patient person, not at all... XD but you know, I love to work the wood and achieve a result as much as possible similar to the original, so this is a thing that requires a lot of patience usually, these kind of works take me a week

I believe it, based on the detail in the hilt.  What wood do you use?  I cannot imagine it to be one of the heavier woods, as that would make it terribly heavy if it is the size I think it is.  I remember using a tachi (bokken) before and it would make my entire arm ache in short order  Even if this is only for costume work, surely that would render it bothersome to wield in poses

I used walnut wood for the base and I smoothed the blade with a file: it is a rather hard wood, but it is suitable since it does not crack. The hilt and the hand guard instead are made of a very light and pliable wood called "ayous": I glued four planks around the walnut base to create thickness and then carved it with my little hand milling machine
No, it is very very lightweight, I think 500 gr more or less, because the blade's width is 3 cm and the whole sword lenght is 98 cm
A bokuto? Do you do kendo or aikido?

Ah, I see.  Really a lot of effort going into it, then  What a pity the original had no wooden sections!  I say this because some sections of polished grain would have made such a nice contrast against the black and silver  Still, needs must stay faithful.

And certainly not: I admit myself entirely uninterested in that formal sport.  I merely took some brief instruction in using the blades as they would be used for actual combat.  That makes me sound bloodthirsty, but I am not, really

Wow, cool! Yes, I remember you are a fencer after all I asked only because I love martial arts due to the mental, not only physical, exercise they represent to me: karate helps me especially when I am stressed and get headache, but also thaught me to focus deeply.
Ahahah, it doesn't sound like that, don't worry! I am imaginig your lessons instead and I find them fascinating

Yes, I see -- I have friends who appreciate martial arts thus as well I confess myself of a different view on the matter, myself, but that is only because I find myself having difficulty divorcing the purpose of violence from any martial activity: even when I fenced, I always went for the kill over the technicality (my division was foil).

Thank you again for indulging me in my inquiries  I wish you a fine evening or day, my dear.
