The Land Turtle is the first boss in Final Fantasy 3, fought in the Altar Cave. Poor Luneth has to fight it alone
Anyway, I've always liked this boss. It looks very similar to a real-life "monster" - alligator snapping turtle (Macrochelys temminckii )
Snapping turtle lives in water, not in ancient temples, but who cares.

Well, do you see any Onion Kids in my picture? No, because in DS remake only Luneth fights with it.
You've mistaken original version of Final Fantasy 3 (with anonymous heroes) with DS remake with Luneth, Refia, Arc and Ingus. My picture is from the latter.

A tak poza tym, to Lun musi być silny skoro sam rozwalił żółwia z niewątpliwie adamantytową skorupą.
