May I use it as reference for a drawing? This has a message....

I live in Canada and can see cheetahs only in zoos, which I avoid since it saddens me to see wild animals in captivity. Instead I watch documentary films about animals in other countries, and also look at photos such as yours which enable me to savour the beauty of wildlife. You have a fascinating (and very diverse) gallery, thoroughly enjoyable...

Amazing shot I guess it can't be easy getting a closeup of a cheetah

some cheetahs can be real tame like this one but i'd advise against trying to approach any wild animal friends of mine have gotten real bad scars to prove that they are unpredictable

the sad thing is that even living here in africa the encounters are getting less and less and thats sad these animals are under pressure and it will take all our ingenuity if they bare to survive - thank you for the compliment and the devwatch - i look forward to hearing from you - its quite exciting when a person all the way across the world can give input on something that you've done

no prob always willing to give comments...

i know how you feel, those people developing into the animals habitat... those creatures having no where else to go... sigh... when will we humans come to our senses... we're are killing the only planet we can live in... we are only speeding up our fate into the next ice age... reduce, reuse,recycle...

Very nice picture. Is the painted look of the fur because of a crop or did some post processing do this. Either way I like the effect but am just a little curious.

Shmaff In reply to bigsdawg [2005-08-31 09:36:12 +0000 UTC]

a touch of post processing - this in my opinion added a little more to the character of the picture

AH, wasn't sure...it didn't look like the usual loss of detail due to lack of zoom. you also said you were pretty close in another comment, which I suppose should've tipped me off.

extremely well observed - you must seriously know your technical aspects - but thank you for your in depth view its comments like the ones that you give that really help in terms of questioning youself and motives for doing certain things

I'm a nerd at heart...something to be proud of?!? Technically yes I am strong...compositionally and artistically are the hard parts though. Getting there, although it has been a little while since I've been out. I should get taking some pics.

How the hell did you get this close?!

Or did you borrow a telephoto lens off someone?

Great image, I would maybe have pushed the saturation a bit though...

you would not believe me - i was fully wide on my finepix and the actual lense was about half a foot away from her - i wanted to get both eyes in from this close but she kept turning her head away - awesome cat though - good to hear from you and i'm glad to see that you are checking in more regular - so are you happy with the colour in the gallery?
