Description A new mask design in a new series, combining two contrasting elements in wildly different colours. The lower portion of this mask is painted in midnight blue with shimmery royal blue highlights, with a touch of silver. The blue blends up into fiery red and warm gold feathers that resemble flames. This mask is extremely showy and would be sure to command a lot of attention at a masked ball, or hanging on your wall as an art piece.

Etsy entry, along with a photo from another angle, is here: [link]

The mask is painted both inside and out to seal and protect it. It is lightweight, flexible, and very comfortable to wear. It comes with two removable ties attached. Great for use as part of a costume, or for display on the wall. The size of the piece is approximately 13.5" wide by 12" tall.

Each mask is an original, hand-sculpted work of art, using no forms or moulds, and is signed inside with my monogram.

This is awesome! I have made some masks too mostly out of paper mache, but leather has that amazing look to it!

No problem, mind if I ask how you got started with it? I would think you'd need to have a pretty some crazy materials to work with it. Don't you need to boil the leather to make it malleable?

I took a workshop from a local leather worker. You actually don't need anything too crazy. Just water to shape it (no need to boil it), and then paint to finish it.

Really? I thought you needed a pretty elaborate setup..cool to hear no boiling needed. I might have to try it out sometime..been so busy with painting lately though so probably not for a long while heh xD

Yup! It's pretty simple. Just has to be plain, vegetable tanned leather. The weight of it depends on your own preference and the way you want to work with it.

Very cool - I imagine it still must be difficult to cut the pieces correctly before shaping them. I'm so used to being able to dremel off hunks of papier mache that didn't come out right xD
