I find a philosophical quality to this that, to me, is very intriguing and appealing. It's a picture that conveys more than just character (which is a very interesting aspect in itself), but to a higher degree also focuses on emotion, it has a message (and how I love that art reflects us), which is something that I've always been very fond of. It's dreamlike and a little unreal, which in my opinion is how life may come to us sometimes if we open our eyes to it. And that's the keyline I think to "Light". The look upon Vivi's eyes. The way her face is lit in fragile wonder gives me the feeling of sensing and being in deep contemplation of the world that surrounds her, watching the world for all its magic and wonder - the lights and the "moving" lines - asking questions foremost than seeking answers. And it's very beautiful. I think you have done a great job composing a picture where the elements correspond to us tell the same message or feeling. And do I have to tell you that you are only getting better and better at shading? Great job on the lips and the eyes in particular ;3

That is exactly the reason I drew this, I wanted the philosophical "air" to override the art itself.
Thank you for that lovely description, you hit the nail right on the head with all of it! The way she looks at the world, which can be portrayed and hinted as light here, is all through her own eyes, and by her expression we see a window into her world and how she see's everything. I did want the background to be quite busy, so it would seem everything is moving behind her and around her, yet she is taking in a moment to take a breath of fresh air and look at the world with a birds-eye view, if you will.

I agree with you, I think lips are slowly evolving into a style that is my own, even if I have to work to get it to cooperate with me. xP The eyes I'm not so proud of, I would say individually I really like them but something about the facial anatomy in general is off. Ah well, that isn't even why I drew this anyway.

Thank you for all of your wonderful comments, it really makes my day when you comment on my art.

I think we can agree that it's not only the lips, but your feel of doing things that is evolving into a style that is distinctive your own, and does a style ever fully cooperate? There are times I doubt that, it's always a little part that is done differently one time from the next

Developing a particular style is challenging, but I find the more I draw the more certain anatomical features are drawn more like each other. I still struggle with lips and noses, but my eye shapes are becoming increasingly recognizable, as are the shapes of the ears I draw (after many debates, I've finally settled on an ear style!). I guess maybe I'm coming out of my shell?

For some reason the glaze on her lips really struck me... Maybe because it works with the light? Great job!

Thank you so much!
I'm glad you like the lips, I needed to work on that shading so I'm glad it's improved a bit! ^^

Thank you very much.
I wasn't doing this for the anatomy as much as for the coloring practice, so I'm glad that passes! ^^
