I just finished this yesterday for my class and I may not get it back for a while so I took a picture of it. My teacher holds onto our finished pieces for way too long. >C I have two older pieces I want to post as well but didn't get a good picture of them.

We had to choose a type of folklore or fairy tale that we haven't heard of before. I'm on a Japanese kick so I looked up different monsters and came across this one.

This part was especially interesting:
ORIGIN: Bakeneko can come into being as a result of a number of things, but the most common reasons are by living long-life (generally over 13 years), growing to a certain size (over 3.75 kilograms), by licking up large quantities of lamp oil. A telltale sign that a cat may be close to becoming a bakeneko is believed to be an exceptionally long tail. This superstition led to the custom of bobbing a cat’s tail at an early age to prevent it from growing supernaturally long and transforming into a yokai.

So that explains why there's so many cats I've seen with bobbed tails. D:

I'm back to loving watercolor again. xD
Though next up we are using Gouche. I don't like it asssss much.

When I get my painting back I'll try to scan it to see if it makes much of a difference. With this photo there's just a veeeeeeeeery slight blur to it, but luckily not by much.
