Weee when lockdown keeps you away from your pencils, and pastels are the only medium you brought with you... just do it in pastels
As I've mentioned countless times, these few months are incredibly stressful for me, but getting a weekend to paint (draw?) some of my 2019 Scotland memories with pastels, dotting trees and landscape details and getting dust all over myself while watching Return of the King with The Gang... it's been awesome.
Using pastels at this point feels soooo much like my early days of coloured pencils.. just throwing colour around, learning to get a feel for the different pigments and how to get the shade that I want... (which I obviously still fail at; the blue is too green, it looks almost like a sunny day and CiCi is too red. I was blown away by how brilliantly the blue shone through the trees at the real location, no photo could capture it and now I couldn't even recall it through art -- but I'll get there!)
If anything, this makes me so giddy to improve because coming from a long, yet unfinished story with coloured pencils, I know where this can go with practise. Even in this single painting I see improvement as I go from left to right because I got a better grip on those sticks. I really love this medium

A headache made finishing this really difficult so this is way too last-minute, but don't lynch me svp, that's why we gave everyone a few days more XD
(and yeah it pains me to realize now that I have drawn them gallop into the wrong direction lmao!)
