Description A dark congregation of familiar faces
gathered around the quiet earth

I was inspired by the art of John Dryer Baisley to do something more surreal and Nouveau-y.

This is a self portrait of sorts. (as in, I used a photo of myself for reference. Not as in it looks anything like me). I've been so frustrated and sad lately about a lot of different things, and I really put all of that into this. All the little critters and things mean something to me--and it's really the first time I've ever done that. And after drawing this, I actually felt a lot better.

and the pointalism was quite the experience.
it gets a little old after a while of trying to make something dark. haha

Beautifully done! I love how you were able to combine so many different elements without it feeling messy. The stylization on the water is incredible, it almost reminds me of cloth. Also, that's an awesome song to be inspired by.

Thanks! I really dig them too, though I've only really been able to get familliar with their "Like Vines" album.
I used prismacolor markers to color it

I love the flow of this piece. My only suggestion would be to possibly add cross-hatching or hatching within the stippling, it will really make it "pop."

That makes sense. Figure drawing always just feels so daunting, but I suppose with enough practice it wouldn't be so bad.

it really can be. I took figure drawing first semester last year for five hours a night once a week and I almost always wanted to shoot myself by the end of the night. But after a while you get the hang of it and it's a little more enjoyable

Yeah, and as ridiculous as 5 hours at a time may sound. I took a figure drawing class that was an hour and a half twice a week and I found myself always needing more time than that. Just to get into full on art mode and all that.
