Description I do not own Felarya or any of its characters, all those rights belong to Karbo and the other vore artists and writers that collaborated with him. I only created the Felarya fan character Jack.
It obviously takes concentration to even do the simplest things such as reaching for a remote for the TV or walking down the street. But it’s not that easy when an earthquake hits and we’re all being tossed around and can barely stand. That’s what I thought of when it came for the mana Bedlam. Someone is trying to do something with magic, but the energy is going so wild all over the place that one can’t even channel it. This was key for a character like Jack to even have hope of survival against these magical predators.
Anyways I would like to apologize in advance if I should have gone against any logics or physics of Felarya or whatever you would like to call it. It’s not like these comics are canon or hold any significance to the actual comic that is released by Karbo (go buy yourselves a copy, I’m sure it’s really great... No, Karbo isn’t paying me for saying this haha)
Oh! I almost forgot, I made mention of an experiment I was conducting. The experiment was if more people were into the first comic sequence I made because of the vore, or not. When someone made mention that Felarya may be moving away from the vore it begged a question as to whether or not it would have such a strong fanbase afterwards. I mean the basis of Felarya was to swallow people whole and watch them slowly die as they are digested. *quivers* To move away from the very basis of the series which people enjoyed could possibly be a risky move.
And of course, thank you Karbo and all the other people he collaborated with the creation of Felarya for allowing me to do another fan comic. I’m not sure how much more of these I’ll make. I guess it really depends on how many people enjoy them I guess. But I promise at least one more in the future. I hope you enjoyed the small fan comic skit.

Ha ha ha! He delt with them quite fairly and effectively. I like that. He's not too gullible. Yet he did trust their information. Aslo love the look on his face when he's shaking them up! So crazy and violent.

I'm not sure what Hydebreeds are/is. I'm not even sure if you're aware what exactly Felarya is, because I'm not seeing anything of Hydebreeds there and you've been mentioning things that are outside of the series.

Finally someone who isnt allways running away like a chicken or fool, or is about to get eaten.
Finally, a warrior has arrived... to kick butts und rule the jungle. *lol*

I wouldn't call him a warrior, but he certainly is an expert at adventuring. I suppose the wild is simply his forte lol.

Poor little dusk nymphs... They remind me of those shadow predators in the Doctor Who episode "Silence in the Library". VERY creepy. Except that in Felarya, dangerous predators become sweet and likeable!

Good comic series, again. I like the way Jack uses smart yet simple ways of surviving.

And I like the fairy's unwittingly ironic comment that "humans are selfish and violent by nature".

Well his smarts is really one of the only thing Jack has going for him. I actually am finding it interesting that Jack doesn't kill the creatures, unless he REALLY has to, whether to protect someone else or something as important.

In Jacks story I'll probably try to get him to meet as many aspects of Felarya as I can. If I keep going with this he may meet some of the legends of Felarya like Crisis, Aya or one of the other really great characters, if you think that's acceptable that is.

Jack ain't a crazy wizard, gunslinger, or over sized weapon wielding Cloud. Nope, he's just a man with a lot of knowledge of the wild and tools to help him get by.
Glad to hear you're still enjoying them though.

<- saved comments for all three for just this page. Anyways I really like this character from his bio and the other comic as well it is nice to see someone actually a little prepared for Felarya's trials without overboard powers . Of this series I probably got a good laugh the most out of him roughing up the fairies some haha, his expression is awesome in that spot. The choice of predator was nice too, I was expecting some kind of trap from the water myself so it was nice to see it was dusk nymphs instead.

Shouhda In reply to Asuroth [2009-04-10 07:28:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, you may have noticed I really dislike overboard power, super demi-gods that challenge the very heavens or wizards that can blow up a planet kind of stuff. That's why I get a kick out of taking these super dangerous fairies or menacing magical warlocks and simply showing how they can be beat by a sharp mind and basic skills.
I always try to keep things light and humorous when I can, though I can play out the drama when need be as well.
Yup, the water was safe, his shadow was not haha. Goes to show you how dangerous Felarya really is. Even if you expect danger around the corner, you never know which corner. I'm glad you enjoyed the fan comic skit.

I actually thought he was about to head into the shrinking pond myself. Never expected dusk nymphs...just goes to show how long I'd survive out in the great Felaryan wilderness. Or for that matter, any wilderness, because my ability to tell what is poisonous and what isn't is non-existent.

rcs619 [2009-04-10 04:27:45 +0000 UTC]

Nice conclusion to this series ^^ lol, its always nice to see how Jack handles himself.

I wouldnt worry about violating the rules. Jack just used a magical item to remove the fairys' magic in a small area. Its was inventive and very original. Nice work with that.

I think im the person you mentioned in the comments, but yeah...we arent moving completely away from vore, we just want Felarya to be a more complete fantasy world...full of interesting people, places and stories, where vore happens sometimes. Vore is a part of Felarya, and it certainly adds a very unique sense of danger to the world, but its a waste of Felarya's potential to be the total focus ^^.

To be fair, most of us enjoy Felarya because we really enjoy the world and its characters ^^...the vore is just a plus for some.

Keep up the great work, man. You've done great so far ^^. invented Dusk Nymphs. Im sure she'll be happy to see someone actually use them and do such a great job.

Thank you for letting me know who invented the dusk nymphs.

So when you say "'we' aren't moving away from vore" I take it you're one of its writers or co-creators?

In any case, I'm glad to see people enjoying the little comic skits I put out; it's the whole reason I made a second fan comic and will be making a third.

Im a Felarya writer and occaisional artist, yes. Swing on by my page sometime, I think you'd like my characters, everyone else seems to ^^ [link] (lol, I just decided to throw this in. Its a link to my character, Fiona. She's currently my only character to make the canon so far. I think you'd like her, she's a sweetheart ^^)

I was just making sure you knew Felarya wasnt 100% about vore or anything. Vore is a part of Felarya, but its far from the only part. Personally, I'm neutral on vore. I dont have any issues with it, but I dont mind it either. I think it adds an interesting dynamic to Felarya. These arent just giant monsters chasing you, these are intelligent, often friendly and likable people...who are also deadly predators.

Anyway, you've done an excellent job of telling Felarya stories so far though, so keep it up ^^. I know I'm enjoying this series. Jack is a really original and interesting character, and your comics have just been amazing so far. Keep up the good work.

IMO someone ought to dream up an alternative giant creatures world without the vore, leaving aside any feelings I may have about vore generally (pretty cool if Karbo's drawing it ), in the case of Felarya Karbo's really done a good job of relagating humans to being mere snacks for the giant creatures which makes it difficult to have a convincing human protagonist and difficult to depict from a naive human point of view when that pov is likely rapidly disappearing down Crisis's throat.

The advantage of a naive human point of view is it gives a giant creature a chance to be giant relative to us and awesomely so, otherwise we're often viewing the scene from the pov of something the same size as the other creatures, with the humans being diminished.

rcs619 In reply to boriseng [2009-07-17 21:26:23 +0000 UTC]

Well, Felarya was originally made to be just a vore world. The slow change to a more complete fantasy world is a more recent thing. He's trying. To be fair, a lot of humans do lead fairly good lives. The trick is to be smart about things, or live in a major city. The fortress city of Negav, for example, is essentially invulnerable to any outside attack.

I do agree that humans are generally relegated to the role of expendable character in some stories...but a few of us are trying to give them a better survival rate and role in Felarya in general.

Karbo is getting there. He just hasnt reached the balance between vore and a balanced world yet. I know in the first two mangas, he's introduced 3 new human characters (well, one is a neko) that survive fairly well, and will have recurring roles in the mangas.

I do agree though. The "Naive human" and the "greedy adventurer" are the most horrendously overused sterotypes in Felarya next to the "Evil Dridder" stereotype. Some of us are working to change it though.

boriseng In reply to rcs619 [2009-07-18 04:31:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, its just that the Wiki calls Felarya "Karbo's world of vore", Karbo owns it and it looks all about the vore. If you can produce a balanced storyline within that then more power to you.

Fiona's going to be tricky to write I think, if I read it right she wants to be friendly to humans but has to eat them anyway because hey this is still Felarya.

Dridders seem to be stuck with being designated antagonists, sucks to be a dridder I guess we just prefer snakegirls.

rcs619 In reply to boriseng [2009-07-18 04:43:51 +0000 UTC]

Ehh, I know he's trying to get away from the "vore-world" image. He wants to keep some of the fetish aspect...but develop the world more and make it a more interesting and complex place. It isnt quite there yet...but its certainly a lot closer than it used to be. Hell, he even draws less vore. Look at his old art compared to the new stuff.

Yeah...Fiona can be tricky. She tries to be friendly to humans. She considers herself at least part human, from being raised by them. She tries to avoid eating them if possible...but life in the jungle is harsh and she still does have some of her naga instincts. Also, when you're hunting deer and other, faster animals...your hunts aren't going to be 100% successful. She does try to help as many people as she can though, and generally just try to be a good person. Honestly...unless she's absolutely starving...you're pretty safe. She doesn't like having to resort to eating people, and it makes her feel bad. So...she tries to avoid it if possible.

Yeah...people just irrationally hate spiders. And there's also this running hostility between nagas and dridders that people just exaggerate to no end. Its just a dislike and distrust...not some raging...bloody war. There WAS a war...like a 1000 years ago, but its long over. People like snake-girls because Karbo's naga is adorable and the mascot.

I don't think even Karbo will be able to turn Felarya away from vore, it seems so fanfic-led now. He's created a monster!!

Hey it'd be a challenge to try to draw a cute dridder.

Shouhda In reply to boriseng [2010-11-29 19:15:49 +0000 UTC]

I don't think Karbo will ever be able to turn away from that stuff myself. That's why I decided to do something myself.

I find he finds his fetish desires to drive him too strongly. Hence the reason why most female fairies have clothes and all male fairies (we've seen) wear pants and such.
I even asked him at one point why we don't see naked male creatures and he simply responded saying he doesn't want to draw naked men. (which is a fair enough response)

But in any case, if I can provide a fanfic which makes it more fantasy adventure for others to enjoy and not feel awkward. Why not, right?

boriseng In reply to Shouhda [2010-12-09 18:16:03 +0000 UTC]

Actually since posting what I did I've had time to think a bit more. I've pretty much given up on Felarya myself, not because of Karbo's art, but because of the stuff that seems to go with it, in particular some of the fanfics and the written descriptions in the wiki that I was starting to find deeply disturbing. It seemed to have gone rather a long way away from the cute silly monstergirl fantasy that it seemed to be when I started reading.

The other problem is that as long as humans are relatively unimportant then Crisis and friends aren't monsters in their own eyes and its all cute, but once you have human protagonists then Karbo's cute monster girl starts to look more like a serpent-tailed serial killer.

Shouhda In reply to boriseng [2010-12-10 05:20:22 +0000 UTC]

Yup yup! Hearing my thoughts written out by another person makes all this fun work I do worth that much more lol

This is why I can't get into vore primarily. I can't be turned on from the idea that a life is going to be destroyed, and the fact that others get off from watching it, even worse...feeding the creatures to it.

This is where the idea of Jack came from. Suddenly humans can fight back and it's more of a battle than mere fetish slaughter.

Just wait until Jack meets Crisis! Bwahahaha!

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

rcs619 In reply to boriseng [2009-08-02 17:45:32 +0000 UTC]

He's not trying to turn it away from vore completely...just raise the importance of the characters and stories to the point where vore isnt the main focus. As for being fan-fic led...nope, its not. Karbo still controls what makes the canon.

Shouldn't be any harder than drawing a cute predator of any species ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

boriseng In reply to rcs619 [2009-08-03 04:55:45 +0000 UTC]

I think I'm the one making the mistake of interpreting fanfic as canon.

Regarding dridders I don't know, the human to spider join's a bit discordant. You might pull off "hot" but "cute"? sure you can put a cute face on but the overall effect...I'm not so sure.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rcs619 In reply to boriseng [2009-08-03 06:07:03 +0000 UTC]

True. It can be tough to portray Dridders as cute. Some people do quite well though tends to do a good job. To be fair, his aren't dridders...just half-spider girls (Dridders are a Felaryan race of half-spider people)...but he does a good job at portraying them as good, normal people ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

boriseng In reply to rcs619 [2009-08-04 18:00:45 +0000 UTC]

Maybe calling them something other than dridder would have helped, too close to the D&D "drider" which comes with a bunch of baggage like Chaotic Evil alignment.

Hey you're right about the spider girl though, cute.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rcs619 In reply to boriseng [2009-08-04 20:06:32 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that has been brought up by D&D fans before. Just try to get over the name and focus on the fact that its a totally different race ^^ I imagine Karbo did it as a nod to D&D, and because most other names for spider people (Arachne and so on) dont really have as cool a sound to them.

Dridders are just people who happen to be half spider, not some kind of cursed, evil race. They're no more good or evil than nagas, mermaids and the rest of the hybrids.

Wow, well if Jack and his encounters are as popular as you make him out to be I'll be more than happy to keep the comics going. I might even get his story really rolling if enough people are into it.

I'm a writer, and illustrator. I have a couple of my own comic series on the go. Unfortunately I can't release them to deviant arts because I didn't buy the rights to the characters, title ect. I can't risk losing my babies.

Jack is an accpetion, I felt making one character for the fan comics would be fine. If Karbo or one of you guys really wanted Jack, I'd see no harm in handing him over, but who knows.

But I've been doing comics for a long time now. I haven't really been taking too much time with the felarya stuff (well except the research of creature and what not).

rcs619 In reply to Shouhda [2009-04-10 11:00:59 +0000 UTC]

All I can say is keep up the good work ^^. You seem to grasp the overall mood of Felarya, which is supposed to be quirky and humorous, with some danger. That alone is more than a lot of people have done (believe me, some people take it way....waaaaaaaaaaaay too seriously, lol. When you take it too seriously, it gets dark and depressing) and Jack is an interesting character to see in action.

Its nice to just see an average guy with common sense. There's a real shortage of genuinely interesting human characters. There are some, but most still tend to be either a nameless, expendible adventurer, or some kind of god-modding wizard or something that can survive by force. I always felt we need more humans that really showed the greatest strength humans have, ingenuity and the will to survive. Because, lets face it, humans are extremely tough and resourceful creatures.

I'm a fan of human's in every fantasy. I think we're the coolest things ever lol a fan of my own race. It did bug me seeing all the humans walk around like they weren't even aware of the dangers. "I never knew giant nagas were here, even if they ate my brother the other week. Oops! now I'm eaten too!" *death*
I was like...wow...lol But to be honest, I'd rather have the humans die than be some awesome spell wielding, gunslinger.
