Description
After a long absence from iphone modding due to the lack of a working jailbreak for the 4S, here is finally my first shot of it.Any questions? Don't hesitate to ask me.

Well, at first you need your icons which you'd like to have on your phone.
Then you make a new folder called "YOURTHEMENAME.theme". Inside this folder you create another folder called "Bundles". And inside this folder you create the folders for the icons.
You can see the Bundle ID's here: [link]
You can hit Ctrl+F to find the right app you're looking for. Keep in mind that this list might not be up to date.
For example: The bundle ID for the App Store would be "com.apple.AppStore".
To get the icon names I suggest you to install "AppInfo" via Cydia. It'll tell you the right icon names.
If an icon doesn't change I suggest you to control the Bundle ID's/icon names with "AppInfo".

I create all the folders with the right icon names from appinfo, but when i apply the theme in winterboard, no changes at all

To keep the example from the App Store, does your theme structure look like this?:
YOURTHEME.theme -> Bundles -> com.apple.AppStore -> icon@2x.png
In addition you should be sure that your theme is on top of the list in winterboard.
You could also try to clear the icon cache with "iWipe Cache". You can get it via Cydia.

Maybe... I pasted the 32px icons in this shot into a new 118x120px png file. But even if you didn't do that... They should show up, just blurry.

It's not a text with a specific font but a logo. Look at the macthemes.net forums. There you'll find the Carrier Logos thread.

1. I use Springtomize 2 for that... but you can also use Cleanstatus.

Any slowdown from extensions? So far all I have installed are: UISettings and Cytact. I've installed PDANet, iFile, and gpsPhone from Cydia as apps. No issues so far... I'm not going to use Winterboard and I'm scared to use SnowCover4.
I think I'm gonna stay as Vanilla as possible - If it needs to be themed or modded I'm gonna do it manually.

Well, since I had the 3GS I've never had slowdowns using any cydia tweak/extension like winterboard. The same now with my 4S.
So I can't really comprehend your fear. I think it is more risky and harmful to do it manually.
And of course with winterboard you can switch easier between themes which is a must-have for me because I change them often.

WB uses tons of RAM. And extensions can clash. My wife's iPhones always seem to just fall apart - figuratively speaking.
