Description This little thing is what messed up my hip. XD I had worked on him for a week in between other artwork and commissions. It's a lot sparklier in person, but I did cheat with a few lens flares in Photoshop to make it look like a doll magazine ad! ^_^;

This is actually my first time ever making a doll, doll clothes, or even beadwork. I made this doll completely from scratch and by hand, no pattern, as usual. My only guides were how to attach a wig safely and the best paint to use for the face. For the outfit, the hairstyle, and design of the face I relied on my own observation and knowledge of human clothes and Barbie doll clothes. XD Everything is as accurate to how a collectible commercial doll would be made as I possibly know. And yes, what the ad says is true: I used only the finest quality sparklies in the making of this doll! The shoes are just regular Obitsu doll shoes, though, I didn't make those, obviously. (And yes, he's wearing socks.) XD

I know some of you are going to ask: HOW'D YOU MAKE THAT?! O_O So here's a quick explanation:

I purchased Volks brand doll kit. There are several east Asian doll kit companies to choose from, such as Volks, Luts and Obitsu. These can be purchased online, and you can even purchase these doll kits and clothes, wigs, and eyes/eye decals here in the states (for Volks in the United States try www.volksusa.com.) You can also try eBay and other specialty doll retailers.

I purchased the wig and shoes, because those are more tedious to make than it's worth unless you have the professional equipment to do so. I painted the face myself and designed and hand-sewed the clothes myself. I also cut and styled the wig. This is a 1/6 scale doll (that would be Barbie doll size.)

These are time consuming, but fun to make. Please, if you decide upon creating a doll of your own, make sure to do adequate research on how construct one, particularly in the details of the face and hair! There are plenty of online tutorials in your own languages. These doll parts are costly, so you don't want to be careless!

This is great. XD It must've taken a long time. My favourite part is the hair. It looks so awesome... and soft *wants to touch it, but slaps his own hand away in case he ruins it*
I'd love to make one. But nah, i'm not good at this kinda thing. Textiles r defeating me.

You mean the stuff for the clothes? I bought most of the stuff at Hobby Lobby. You can go to a specialty craft and fabric store such as Hobby Lobby or Michael's to find nice accessories for your doll.

Oh, I'm planning on making them commissionable! Although they'll prolly be expensive, due to the expensive parts and labor... ^_^; Still, if that's not a problem, who am I to complain! XD
