Some Magic Spell for LARP. The one's I've seen so far altogether didn't look really good so I tried to make some myself.Related content

how did you do it? it looks like you combed out wool the glued it onto a styrophome (sp?) then used hairspray or some sort og imobolizer to hold it

It's really simple. Take a small ball made of Foam (like those for Beach Tennis) then take a Felting Neddle and Raw Wool in the wished colours. Lay the Wool on the Ball in the Pattern you wish, so taht half of the woolpiece is on the ball an the rest hangs over to form the "tail" later. Then start felting the WWool "into" the Foamball and go on with felting pieces on it, while turning round. When the whole Ball is covered with felted wool take a piece of foam und start felting the Tail. You have to be carefol not to felt ist too tight here. Shave the Ball with an electric Shaver if you want it smooth and apply some Heirspray afertwards to fix everythin..tadaa your Spell's ready

how well can you throw them ? they seem really light and wouldn't go that far or hard to aim ?

They look awesome... now make 50 of those and carry them in your pockets.

Wear a cloak with loops to attach them on the inside and you will be just fine. That or loop around a belt

My comment was more a curiosity about the fluffy stuff that makes up the tails, does that affect how they fly, or are the balls dense enough for them to fly nicely?

when I tried them outdoor they flew quite good. I can Imagine that the "Tail" makes them fly more ...hmm .. directed

It looks like with enough weight, the tails would have very little effect on the distance and accuracy. Our larp uses Bird seed inside our packets to keep them soft yet heavy enough, as well as environmentally safe ( cannot tell you how many packets get lost every event!)

They are made of felt sourrounding a soft ball made of some kind of foam.
