Description Staff of the Verstandhauer Institute, Plate 3

L to R:

Ayelet Bahr: A former lieutenant in the Israeli Defense Forces, Ayelet moved from Israel to Germany to set up a private security firm. A longtime friend of Dr. Verstandhauer, she was soon after invited to join the staff and now runs the penal ward, where violent criminals and addicts which no prison can handle are treated. Due to her history with the Director, Ayelet is the only staff member who interacts with Dr. Verstandhauer socially. A longtime running joke amongst the staff is that Ayelet is a Nazi Hunter tracking down a fugitive Dr. Verstandhauer.

Rose Forsyth: Known to the staff as the "British Bulldog", Englishwoman Rose is the Head Orderly, managing the support staff in the main ward and assisting Security Chief Bahr in the penal ward. Known for her fearlessness and no-nonsense attitude, Rose is in constant competition with Nurse Kampfer over who can single-handedly subdue the most violent patients and inmates. Gambling on the outcome has become the unofficial pastime of the Asylum staff.

Heidi Verruckt: Like Anna Pfau, Heidi - known as "Pippi" for her red braids - is a former patient of the Institute. However, she never fully recovered from her case of Fauve's and was left with mild brain damage. Though this resulted in only minor behavioural and personality quirks, she nonetheless found it difficult to find employment upon her release. As an experimental therapy, she was allowed to volunteer at the Institute and soon proved to be a very dedicated, patient and skilled worker. She was thus hired as an orderly and has worked at the Institute ever since. Ever effervescent and happy-go-lucky, she is well liked by patients and staff alike.

Magda Wulf: A punk rocker in her spare time, Magda first came to the institute as a volunteer, doing community service for a drunk driving conviction. Realizing she loved the work, she later applied and was hired as an orderly. Her daily experiences inspire most of the music she writes for her band. Since joining the staff, she has become the de facto mentor for Heidi.

Yes, every hospital needs orderlies. Nurses can't always bring all the muscle required

No, as they are orderlies, not nurses. Nurses are licensed to administer medical treatment, while orderlies are not. Orderlies assist the nurses in their duties, such as by setting up medical equipment, cleaning up the ward and helping to restrain and transport patients. As their jobs are more physically demanding, their uniforms are lighter and more streamlined, without any skirts, aprons or flaps that patients can grab or which can get caught.
