Description for and yes, it seems like this is developing into a spree after all.

undead, female, holy, healer, ranged.

i was thinking maybe this character used to be a great healer till her unexpected death and then her soul was physically bound back to her body with spiritual chains and locks and now she's an animated corpse that can tap into the other side to syphon healing energy.

This is awesome. I love the key hole with the chains. You are just top notch.

for sure. its a great exercise in character design and storytelling. and i rarely put more than an hour's work into each one so it's not that time consuming.

Guess you don't have trouble coming to a decision on design for long.

well, the idea takes between a few seconds to a few minutes to come up with (though im faster than average with that) and i always do a few minutes of ref search. most of the time goes on the doodling and getting a semi decent lineart.
the color i keep simple so its about 10 minutes and then a few more minutes tweaking and doing some compositing magic

but i've gotten faster with time. the early ones could even take between 2-4 hours. the great thing about this exercise is how many character variations it can produce without becoming repetitive (though im reaching the limit now, some of the rolls i got 2-3 times already )

How long have you been drawing?

started over 10 years ago. though there were a couple of non-drawing years in between.

Yeah, it seems you have a good flow with your process. Sometimes or most of the time, it's a bit difficult for me to decide on various components for a character design.

yea, its definitely an acquired skill. today i try to keep everything loose and simple and focus on speed and clarity of character, it's a good way to push forward that skill.

when i was more of a beginner i'd spend a lot of time going through references to help me out with design ideas. today i've developed a good shape and design arsenal to draw from.
