I've seen alot of people's characters who have weird but unique abilities, i dont see many "hand manipulations" with hair but its unique. its been used many times obviously, so you using the hair hands thing is okay in my book. besides, wouldn't it be stupid if everyone was fighting about someone having green or red in the hair or black and gray paws? i mean its rediculous many people have unique ideas that are also ideas that others come up with aswell. dA is not for arguing, its for sharing idea's through art, photography, and liturature.
btw this is a really cute picture :'D

It's very hurtful and immature.

unless chelsea owns hair hands, i see little to no reason to complain. sure, i might see a problem if they had the same color scheme and if the hair was like Chelsea's, but since it's not, how is this a problem?

raveitout In reply to PinkCalliope [2010-05-24 04:35:55 +0000 UTC]
as in the 'scene-hair' stlye.
the hands that are actually made of hair are the only thing that are similar to your friend's spaggle. that, and they're dogs. well, chelsea's looks more like miniature, anorexic giraffe, but that's her 'style', right?
i find it funny how it's okay for chelsea to have the concept when a shitton of anime and video games have done it before, but it's not okay for *shtiglitz to have the same concept.
honestly, quit riding her. she's done nothing wrong.
she's even apologized for something she didn't do in your friend's journal. she deserves a hell of a lot more respect.

PinkCalliope In reply to raveitout [2010-05-24 04:40:22 +0000 UTC]
Nobody said anything about "style." It's a theme with you guys, to bring up stereotypes unrelated to the argument at hand, to prove sparkles are WRONG WRONG WRONG. Mmm, how about arguing with what's actually presented?
I'm not arguing against her. I really respect her attitude in this and I'm not pursuing her. She responded to my comment and I left it at that. It's this self-entitled group I'm responding to.

raveitout In reply to PinkCalliope [2010-05-24 04:51:43 +0000 UTC]
i explained the scene hair style because you didn't get it in my first comment. that's how the style came up. chelsea's style on the other hand was just a blow that was optional and i decided to put it in. the question was rhetorical and now you're making a big deal about it. it's not the main part of the argument, and i never intended it to be so.
then you could just ignore everything? or better yet, you could actually admit that since there's no proof of inspiration, your friend has nothing to whine/worry about. with every comment, you're just feeding me and the other people here. to be honest, once you stop commenting, they will too. though, if you're as bored and stubborn as we are, it'll never end until one side wins.

PinkCalliope In reply to raveitout [2010-05-24 05:01:46 +0000 UTC]
A blow that was optional and completely unrelated to the topic at hand. If you're going to include something with no clout because it has no relation to anything previously discussed, why bother?
Nobody ever wins in these situations. Last comment =/= instant e-argument win, as so many people believe. I was defending my point. Shtiglitz showed more maturity and humanity than anyone here, so my point is moot and I'm backing down out of respect for her wish to end this.

raveitout In reply to PinkCalliope [2010-05-24 05:10:48 +0000 UTC]
it fit into the topic quite nicely, actually. or at least, in my opinion it did.
i never said it was an 'instant' e-argument win. it continues with chelsea and her journal as well. once chelsea gets over the fact that none of her art contains one speck or originality and people defending chelsea's weak argument stop commenting/replying here and in her jounral... things will die down and get better and everything will be fine 'n dandy.
mmk, nice talkin' with ya'.

Again with the Zelda character. And the copyright claim.
Look. This is a dog with two hair-hands placed in the precise area of coontails, common on scene-related dogs. A very specific spot. Not a humanoid. Not a Zelda-inspired character. Not one large hand made of all the hair.
And nobody claimed it was copyrighted to Chelsea. She even says in her journal that she would have been fine with people using her idea if they approached her. She never mentioned copyright and never brought up copyright in any of her arguments. So you have no grounds to use that as an argument yourself, when you are the one bringing it in.

So just because it's a dog and not a human or Zelda character it means "OMG SHE'S COPYING MY (c)IDEA, QUICK SOMEBODY CALL THE WAAAAAMBULANCE!!!" Oh please, she doesn't even mention the fact that it's a dog with "two hair-hands placed in the precise area of coontails" she cries about mean old stealing her 'precious hair hands idea'. And how nice of her to say she'd be fine with other people asking her to use her 'original' concept...she needs to get over herself and stop being such a stuck up little dolt about shit that don't amount to a hill of beans

You're sure paying a lot of attention to dogart and teen drama if it "doesn't amount to a hill of beans", I must say.
I'm just pointing out what I see as similarities, obviously I can't speak for Chelsea. And I'm not trying to. Maybe she doesn't say that but I did, I'd appreciate if you'd actually respond to the points I make and not try to lump all the arguments together to prove you're right.

We never said she copyrighted it,we're stating that had she spent the time and money to file an actual copyright claim with the government for her 'original' concept(which she couldn't because Nintendo and the various anima and manga publishers have been using it for years)then she might have a leg to stand on.But since she apparently hasn't....no
You're sure paying a lot of attention to dogart and teen drama if it "doesn't amount to a hill of beans", I must say.
The same could be said of you,as has been said repeatedly likely never heard of Chelsea before all this so this is ll just a hill of beans.
I'm just pointing out what I see as similarities, obviously I can't speak for Chelsea. And I'm not trying to. Maybe she doesn't say that but I did, I'd appreciate if you'd actually respond to the points I make and not try to lump all the arguments together to prove you're right.
Let's see...Lyra has three legs,no tail, has a green nose, green tongue and green markings around the inside of her ears...and her hair hands are black with light gray tips.
Meanwhile Chelsea is lavender/light shade of black with bands of light orange, yellow and grey on her hind legs;has fox like ears, piercing pink eyes, big fuzzy mutli-colored tail, and most importantly her hair hands are light green with bluish green bands and also twice as long as Lyra's.
In other words other than the hair hands and maybe green noses(Lyra=lime green, Chelsea=blue green)they look absolutely NOTHING ALIKE!!!!Your friend is only making a fool of herself over a character that doesn't look remotely like her's and was more likely inspired by a video game and/or anime or manga than some obscure spaggledog that the artist probably never knew existed till your friend went all passive aggressive on her.Had she just said "oh a character with hair hands like mine what a coincidence" and just moved on none of this would be happening...instead she threw a e-tantrum and created a Bawww journal over something that clearly ain't worth the drama, and believe me it isn't.

See, that copyright argument has a point. Saying things like "she can't defend her OMG (C) ME ORIGINAL DESIGN" is not an argument and does nothing but make you look like you're relying on stereotypes.

We use stereotypes because your and your friend's behavior regarding this whole situation is fitting those stereotypes. She made a OC with a certain feature(hair hands)...was informed of a OC with the same feature made by some one who hasn't even heard of her...and got all bent out of shape and made a journal crying about how the creator of the second OC 'stole' her original idea which isn't so original because it's been around since forever instead of just ignoring it.It's a stunt nine out of every ten sparkle artist pull...that's what the stereotype comes from and sorry to say your friend fits it perfectly.

And again, it's not her idea. I had a character hair-hands back in middle school for crying out loud. OLD CONCEPT IS OLD.

Area, as in the sides of the head are a common area for that long strand of hair. I had no better term for the placement/style than "coontails," though I didn't mean coontails themselves. Should have phrased it better.
It's referring to the argument that this is equivalent to that one Zelda character, who uses a completely different area and percentage of hair. The coincidence would have been more believable if it had used any part of the hair but that specific side-of-the-head one.

I had a character years ago with similar hair. The strands on the side, at least.
His hair was shapeshift-able, and he tended to morph the longer bits into hands.
Alas, this character was humanoid, and not a dog, but you see my point.
Chelsea did not create nor come up with the original concept of hair-hands or even hair-hands on the side of the head, therefore she has no right to bash and berate others who use it. She posted a journal slandering another artist and crying wolf, which was childish and stupid.
All of you little fanbrats need to get off *shtiglitz 's back and grow up.
