Pencil Drawing March 2014
4H, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B, blending stubs and eraser on smooth bristol paper
I realize I am not capturing this photo at all, and part of the problem for me is the darkness and massive shading. However, I would like to say the drawing is inspired by. Because I am very inspired by it.

It is very nice. Pencil never gets very dark. I switched to charcoal for this reason.

I LOVE how this finished product gives your picture a rounded, whole feeling to it.
The attention to detail is brilliant. I love each little wave of her hair, the soft little wisps that touch her forehead and the way it is so realistic. The hair looks so natural and soft. It matches the softness of her skin and adds a fantastic balance to those striking eyes.
Really, I thoroughly enjoy the fact that you post pictures in stages because it gives me a chance to see and compare how things shift and become more defined as we go. And it helps me to see how each aspect of an artists' work pieces together and falls into place.

This one for some reason was really hard for me to do. There was a massive amount of dark area, and I just couldn't seem to get her features right, but I still enjoyed the process.
Long hair is always hard, and I generally do that after the face. I so appreciate you noticing!

I don't think you need to slavishly copy a picture, your drawing captures the essence and that's what is important really. Great eyes.
